Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

It was a bit of a rough game against Playa, but we eventually took care of business and now with two weeks to go in the year we control our own destiny for the Super West. We now find ourselves in a pivotal road matchup against Deschutes to claim the top of the conference. The Pronghorns gave us our first loss in week 6, and if they win this week they'll be controlling their destiny for a conference championship. They're looking to get back up after an upset loss to Ohio A&M, and we'll need to get back to early season form in order to take them down. With a plethora of injuries at the QB position, senior Joe Faɡnano (thank god it's pronounced "fah-nya-no") rose to the occasion against the Penguins, throwing for 344 yards and 3 TD's to put us over the top.

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

Following a big week 10, we head to the final week with 11 teams still in contention for a playoff spot, as we lost only two more teams this week, Hallows and Playa del Rey.

On the flip side, despite a beatdown from in-state rivals Twin Cities, Minnesota A&M clinched the HAC championship with Riel's loss to Michigan Institutional. It also jumped the Bucks into a playoff spot if the season ended today.

They bumped Deschutes out of the current picture, as the Pronghorns couldn't knock off Southern Colorado, and leaves the Super West Conference still with three teams vying for that conference title. Both Southern Colorado and Hawaii State have locked up playoff spots heading into the final week of the season. With Southern Colorado and Hawaii State set to battle in southern Colorado, and Deschutes heading to California to take on Playa del Rey, here's how things shake out.
- Southern Colorado is in with a win. They're currently a game up on both Hawaii State and Deschutes.
- If Hawaii State wins and Deschutes loses, Hawaii State and Southern Colorado will be tied. As they will have split the season series in this situation, and they would have identical overall records, points would determine the conference champion. Currently Hawaii State has the points advantage, and would win in this situation, so they would still have that points lead and would win the conference.
- If Hawaii State and Deschutes both win, then it will come to a three way points tiebreaker. Currently Hawaii State is at 1371.93, Southern Colorado is at 1169.02, and Deschutes is at 1079.76. So it will almost assuredly go to Hawaii State in that situation.

With the Southern V Conference, East Coast Conference, and Heartland Athletic Conference champions already in place with Johns Island, St. Brendan's and Minnesota A&M respectively, and Southern Colorado and Hawaii State both clinching a spot already, that leaves only three playoff spots available. With six teams all in position to earn them. The three teams in the driver's seat are Michigan Institutional, Riel, and Kentucky Tech. They win, they're in. Kentucky Tech is in non-conference action facing Pennsylvania Commonwealth. Meanwhile, Riel hosts rival Twin Cities and look to prevent Twin Cities pulling a second upset to close the season, and Michigan Institutional heads to Kansas to face Wichita A&M.
The teams on the outside looking in are St. Laurent, Buffalo State and Deschutes. St. Laurent hosts Hershey, Buffalo State hosts Chicago Tech, and, as previously mentioned, Deschutes is on the road against Playa del Rey. St. Laurent, Buffalo State, and Deschutes all need a win and a loss from at least one of Michigan Institutional, Riel, and Kentucky Tech to get into a tiebreaker situation. If more than two of the teams end up tied for the final spots, then it would be based on points, which are currently as follows:
Michigan Institutional - 1309.32
St. Laurent - 1265.08
Riel - 1245.26
Buffalo State - 1199.94
Deschutes - 1079.76
Kentucky Tech - 1029.20

Head-to-head would only be needed if exactly one of Michigan Institutional, Riel and Kentucky Tech lose and exactly one of St. Laurent, Buffalo State, and Deschutes win. Those that matter are:
St. Laurent has a head to head win over Riel
Deschutes has a head to head win over Michigan Institutional

I'm honestly not getting into all the seeding scenarios because there's a lot, but know that a Johns Island win or Southern Colorado loss guarantees them the top seed. In a three way tie situation, realistically, only St. Brendan's has a shot to overtake the Angels for the points tiebreaker, needing Johns Island to lose, and both St. Brendan's and Southern Colorado to win. Otherwise, Johns Island would lose the top seed only if they lose to Lake Country Tech at home, St. Brendan's loses to Hallows at home, and Southern Colorado beats Hawaii State. This would leave it to the head to head game between Johns Island and Southern Colorado, which the Stegos won.

EDIT: I almost forgot: If St. Laurent, Buffalo State, or Deschutes win, they will be bowl eligible. As such, please submit ideas for potential "filler" bowls. Currently we have:
First Round:
Avocado Bowl in Phoenix, AZ
Harvest Bowl in Kansas City, MO
Heritage Bowl in Washington, DC
Whiskey Bowl in Nashville, TN

Semifinals:
Beacon Bowl in Boston, MA
North Star Bowl in Minneapolis, MN

Extra Bowl:
Pineapple Bowl in Honolulu, HI

So what we need: one additional bowl game if all three of St. Laurent, Buffalo State, and Deschutes win AND AltFL cities you'd like to see the NationALT Championship played in. Confirmed to have been previously used for that are Miami, FL, Charlotte, NC, and Chicago, IL. You can submit those HERE. This will be brief, closing on Friday, November 7th at 10pm Central so we can vote before next week.

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

Johns Island's first matchup against Chicago Tech was pretty close, but this time around, it was anything but, as a blowout moves the Angels to 9-1 and 7-0 in conference play. With one more week in the regular season, we head back home to take on the Lake Country Tech Raccoons. If we win, we lock up the continent's top seed for the third time in four years; if we lose, well, things could get more interesting. Since we haven't had a chance to wear our throwbacks yet, we're doing it this week, and wearing this one on Saturday will be TE Eli Stowers. The Denton, TX native caught 2 TDs as part of a 146-yard receiving performance. #HadMeAtHalo

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

With a big win over Ohio A&M last week in our final home game of the season, we punched our ticket to the AltCAA playoffs. But we still have a chance to host the traditional Super West Conference bowl, the Avocado Bowl. To do so, we just need to go on the road to Southern Colorado and avenge our loss from earlier this season. The Stegos are having their best season in modern times and would really like to claim the conference championship, so we know this won't be easy. Last week we saw Kendrick Raphael enter the starting lineup for us, and get us 112 combined yards on the ground and receiving while punching in three touchdowns, earning him a start again this week. #BeachBirds #TikiManIsEternal

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

We got our revenge against Deschutes and punched our ticket into our first-ever playoff appearance. And now, we will have one final home game against Hawaii State to determine the Super West champion. This has been our best season in quite some time, but the Hawks will not make it easy for us to win our first Super West title. For the final home game of the year, we will be throwing it back to 1982 when we both moved up to the top division and changed our name to the Southern Colorado Stegos. Featuring for the final regular season week is junior WR Carnell Tate, who caught 5 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown against the Pronghorns last week.

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

Week 11 - Buffalo State Stampede (5-5) vs Chicago Tech Violets (3-7)

It is win or go home for the Buffalo State Stampede. If the Stampede win they will be bowl eligible but they need a win and some help to make the playoffs. The Stampede will be rocking with the red helmets again at home, hoping they can stay hot in them.

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

With the close of the regular season, we head to Bowl Season and the Playoffs! We'll start with the matchup of the two bowl eligible teams that missed the playoffs. Heading to Honolulu, Hawaii to compete in the Pineapple Bowl will be the Buffalo State Stampede and the Kentucky Tech Gryphons. The Stampede will be the designated home team in this matchup.

As for the playoffs, our traditional bowls see the conference champions hosting the top non-conference champions. We'll start in Nashville, Tennessee, as top seeded and Southern V Conference champion Johns Island will host St. Laurent! The Angels knocked off the Patriotes at home back in week 1, but St. Laurent had the highest offensive output of any team this season in week 11.

Next we look to Washington, DC, as the Heritage Bowl will feature St. Brendan's, who won the East Coast Conference, hosting Riel. The Navigators and the Rebels didn't play during the regular season, but both finished in the top 6 in scoring, so this could be a high scoring affair.

We head to the desert next, as the Avocado Bowl will be played in Phoenix, Arizona. Hawaii State won the Super West Conference last week with a win over Southern Colorado, and their reward is that they host Michigan Institutional. The Hawks and Bucks didn't see each other in the regular season, but with each team averaging between 130 and 140 points a game, this could be another close one.

Finally, we go to Kansas City, Missouri, where Heartland Athletic Conference Champions Minnesota A&M will host Southern Colorado. This is another first time matchup this season, as the Threshers and Stegos didn't meet in the regular season. With the game with the two teams geographically the closest, this could be a raucous crowd in the 4 vs 5 matchup.

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

With a big win over Southern Colorado, the Hawks claim the Super West Title. With conference title, we've earned the three seed in the playoffs and the right to host the Avocado Bowl. So we're off to Phoenix to face off against the Michigan Institutional Bucks. We're looking at having top running back Antwan Raymond and top wide receiver KJ Duff unavailable for this one, so it's a bit of an uphill battle. We'll be in the all white, as normal, with the white helmets, jerseys and pants. We're featuring starting quarterback Byrum Brown, who can hopefully continue his stellar play since taking over as the starting quarterback. #BeachBirds #TikiManIsEternal

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

Okay, so we have no rush for the vote because, well, we don't need the extra bowl game this year. So we'll vote and file that one away for next year. This is ranked choice. What you give the 1st will get 5 points, the 2nd will give 3 points, and the 3rd will give 1 point.

However, we do need to know where the NationALT Championship game is going to be played as well. The deadline to vote is Friday, November 14th at 10pm Central! You can vote by clicking HERE

Re: The AltCAA Season 2025

Pineapple Bowl - Buffalo State Stampede (6-5) vs Kentucky Tech Gryphons (6-5)

While we fell short of our goal of making the playoffs, the Stampede finished the second half of the season strong going 5-1 down the stretch to get bowl eligible. We are heading west, WAY west to Hawaii where the Buffalo Stampede will be facing off against fellow Southern V foe the Kentucky Tech Gryphons in the Pineapple Bowl. The Stampede and Gryphons split the regular season series between the two teams. Buffalo State will look to stay red hot in there red helmets to close out their inaugural season.
