Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

With the first half of the regular season in the books, it's time for the annual GEO Cup, where the winner gets a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, regardless of their record! First things first, here are the regular season standings. These won't change until after the GEO Cup!

As far as the GEO Cup goes, we'll see 7 games of action, with each group sending their top finisher to the final on January 10th, 2026 in Istanbul, the home of last year's GEO Cup winner Inter Istanbul! In addition, we'll have the Global Series, featuring games from cities that haven't had a team at the top level of play for the first six weeks, and culminating at the home of the inaugural GEO Cup Champions in Santiago, Chile.

Game 1 of the GEO Cup will feature our Global Series matchup in Beijing, China as Olympique de Bastille will meet up with Club de Ragatas do Independencia. They met up in Paris in the regular season, with Olympique securing a 20 point win.

The Eurpoean Group will see Atlético Barcelona travel to Sweden to take on IFK Stockholm. They faced off in Barcelona in Game 11, seeing IFK Stockholm winning by 11. You'll see defending GEO Cup Champions Inter Istanbul head to the Netherlands to take on Amsterdam KVV. They last saw each other in Game 2 where Istanbul won by 41.25 in Amsterdam. And the European group will conclude with FC Alfa Roma heading north to Germany to take on 1. VfV 1158 Munich. They faced off in Munich for Game 5, with the Monks winning by 33.5.

The World Group has their three matches as well, starting with CF Federal heading down under to take on Sydney Harbour FC in Australia. CF Federal had the worst offensive output of the season back in Game 5 against the Harbours, scoring only 12 points in their 46.25 point loss in Mexico City. Bukchon Hanok Stripes will head to the desert as they face Eye of the Sun FC in Cairo. They last saw each other in Game 6 in Seoul where the Tigers picked up an 11.5 point win. And finally the World Group will see FC Tokyo Sakura travel to Johannesburg, South Africa to take on Joburg City 94. They saw each other just a couple games ago in week 11 where Joburg picked up a 31 point win at home over the Cherry Blossoms.

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

As we head into the GEO Cup, the Falcons are sitting atop the table. Albeit, we're in a 4 way tie for first, but we do have the current tiebreaker. Our GEO Cup starts at home, as we welcome Bukchon Hanok Stripes to The Pyramid. They beat us when we met in the first half of the season, but that was in Seoul, and this time they're coming to the desert. We'll be in the main kits for this one, and are featuring defender Kenny Tete! #TheGoldStandard

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

Well what do you know? Atlético knocked off the top club in the league, solidly defeating Sydney Harbour FC to end the first half of the season on a high note. Of course, now the regular season gets put on pause, as we make the quick turnaround to Sweden for our first GEO Cup game. We fell to IFK Stockholm just a few weeks ago on our home turf, and now we'll look to return the favor. Our top player last week was M Nico O'Reilly, who was all over the pitch against Harbour, with an assist, 3 key passes, 7 aerials won, and 8 clearances. #KeepClimbing

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

We narrowly lost to Eye of the Sun after being neck-and-neck the whole game, leaving us with a sour mood to start GEO Cup play, where we are looking to reclaim our title from a few years back. We start group play at home against Tokyo, who have fallen in recent weeks but could start clean with a new slate of games. Featured for this week is recent signing M Mateus Fernandes, who supported our midfield with 3 key passes and 2 tackles won.

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

Following Game 1 of the GEO Cup, we have a quick turnaround to Game 2. Sorry about the travel. Especially you in the World Group and Munich who is in the Global Series this week.

First, the current standings. Not much to say, 3 winners, 3 losers, and a team that didn't play a Cup game last week in each group:

And a look ahead at Game 2's schedule:

In European Division play, Olympique de Bastille (who played and won in the Global Series last game) and Atlético Barcelona will play with both teams looking for their first GEO Cup win. Amsterdam KVV is also looking for their first win as they head to Sweden to take on IFK Stockholm who is looking for win number two. And finally, FC Alfa Roma looks for their first win as they welcome Inter Istanbul, who is looking for their second win, to Italy.

On the World side of things, Joburg City 94 heads to Mexico City to take on CF Federal, with Joburg looking for win number two and Federal going for win number one. Sydney Harbour FC goes for win number two as they head to South America to take on Ragatas, who is looking for win number one after their Global Series appearance last week. And with both teams coming off losses in game number one, Eye of the Sun FC heads to Japan to take on FC Tokyo Sakura.

The Global Series heads to Lagos, Nigeria, as European representatives, 1. VfV 1158 Munich, take on the World representatives, Bukchon Hanok Stripes.

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

A disappointing start to the GEO Cup as Bukchon Hanok Stripes came into The Pyramid and handed us a loss. To bounce back, we need to go to Tokyo, Japan on a short turnaround to take on the Cherry Blossoms. FC Tokyo Sakura is also coming off a loss last week, so both teams are looking to right the ship in Game 2 to avoid an even larger deficit. We'll be in the Main kits for this one, and are highlighting Cristian Romero, who had a great day in the defeat, coming away with the brace. #TheGoldStandard

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

The game started out a bit ugly but we pulled ahead in the second half against Tokyo to secure our first win in this year's GEO Cup. We have a short turnaround to travel halfway across the world to Mexico, where we play Federal for the second match of the tournament. They're coming off of a narrow loss away at Sydney, so we'll both be under the effects of jet lag like every other team in the World Group. Featured for us this week is F Ollie Watkins, who came off the bench to score 2 goals on 4 shots (3 on goal) and created 2 chances against Tokyo.

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

Atlético started the GEO Cup on a bad foot, as we couldn't stop Erling Haaland and old friend Dominic Calvert-Lewin. That said, it was a pretty solid effort, and we won't be making any lineup changes before our next game, which comes at home against Olympique de Bastille. Olympique just gave Europe the lead in the Global Series, so this is their first game within the group. We're sending out F Noah Okafor, who had an assist, a shot on goal, and a key pass against Stockholm. #KeepClimbing

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

Atlético responded well to our loss in the first GEO Cup game, easily dispatching of Olympique to pick up our first three points of Cup play. Now, we fly up to Amsterdam to take on the reigning champs. AKVV is off to a much rougher start to the tournament, with bad losses in both of their matches so far, meaning they'll be anxious to make some noise in this one. For the graphic, we're highlighting D Malo Gusto, who helped us keep Bastille off the scoresheet, winning 3 tackles and intercepting 2 passes. #KeepClimbing

Re: AltLiga Season 2025-26

We demolished Federal in the second round of the GEO Cup and now sit atop the World Group for the time being thanks to both Bukchon Hanok Stripes and Sydney losing last week. Now we have to face our mortal enemy Eye of the Sun back at the Calabash for the third round of pool play, who rebounded last week against Tokyo after dropping their first game in pool play. We'll need to fight hard to get our title back, and need the help of D Matty Cash, who scored his 3rd goal of the year on two shots, and added 4 crosses (zero accurate) and 2 corners last matchweek against Federal.
