Re: The AltFL Season 2025

It was a fairly sloppy game against the Vulcans, but we pulled out in the end to stay near the top of the standings. Thanks to some division shenanigans, we sit two games up on the Central Title, so we are sitting in the driver's seat for a division repeat. We'll be staying at home to welcome the Arizona Scorpions to town, and despite their record still have an outside shot of the West Division. We'll be breaking out the old-school uniforms against the Scorpions, and we'll also be featuring LB Mack Wilson, who tallied 7 tackles (4 solo) and forced a fumble last week.

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

The Destroyers couldn’t find their rhythm and fell hard to Utah, dropping us to 5-4. The good news? We’re staying home, and there’s no time to dwell on that loss with the Carolina Reapers coming to town. Both teams sit at 5-4, and while last year’s matchup in Charlotte was a battle between two bottom-feeders (where we grabbed our first win of the season), this time it’s a showdown between two teams vying for a playoff spot. We’ll be back in our navy helmets, navy jerseys, and navy pants, ready to prove we belong in that playoff race. Mac Jones has quietly become the steady hand of this team since stepping in for Brock Purdy back in Week 2. He’s started every game (except one) for us since, and last week threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, even tacking on a few yards rushing in the loss. #WaveOfDestruction

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

With 4 weeks left in the AltFL Regular Season, I think it's time we start looking at playoff scenarios!

First, being 5 back on the final playoff spot, the Minnesota Voyageurs have been eliminated from the playoffs. Three other teams still have some playoff hopes, but are unable to win their division: the Birmingham Vulcans, San Antonio Phantoms, and Milwaukee Mallards. They would need a bunch of help to make the playoffs, but are mathematically still alive.

San Antonio and Birmingham will be eliminated with a loss OR wins by four of the following 5 teams: Los Angeles, Utah, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Kansas City.
Arizona and Milwaukee would be eliminated with a loss AND wins by four of the aforementioned 5 teams: Los Angeles, Utah, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Kansas City.

There are four teams that can have their chances to win their division brought to zero this week, Boston will be eliminated with a loss OR win by New York, both Kentucky and St. Louis with a loss OR win by Chicago, and Dallas with a loss OR win by either Tennessee or Orlando.
Both Buffalo and Carolina will be unable to win the division with a loss AND a win by New York.

The West is a complete mess. It has 3 teams tied at the top, 2 teams 2 games back, and 1 team 3 games back.

The South is looking like it will come down to the wire with Orlando and Tennessee both at 9-1. Tennessee does hold the head-to-head advantage. Both teams can clinch a playoff spot with a win OR a loss by and one of Los Angeles, Utah, Philadelphia, San Diego or Kansas City.

Chicago holds the head-to-head advantage on Kansas City and are two games up on them in the Central Division race. As such, Chicago can clinch the division with a win AND a Kansas City loss to the Tennessee Copperheads.

New York currently has a two game advantage on Philadelphia in the East Division race. They play this week, so an Emperor win will put them three games up with three to play and the head-to-head advantage, but will also need Buffalo to lose to San Diego and Carolina to lose to Dallas to clinch the division.

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

With the big win over San Antonio, the East Division Title is in sight. We need some help this week from San Diego and Dallas on top of a win over Philadelphia, so we'll focus on what we can do and look to knock off the Brawlers on the road. We'll be in our alternate black helmets along with the white jerseys and black pants. We'll be featuring our rookie tight end Harold Fannin for this one, as big number 44 has ascended to the top of the depth chart. #LiveFromNewYork

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

The Destroyers bounced back in a big way last week, picking up a massive win over Carolina to stay right in the thick of the playoff hunt. Now we hit the road for Buffalo, where the Bolts, our blue-and-grey brethren, are sitting at 0.500 after 10 weeks and are fighting for the same postseason real estate we are. We’re rolling out the grey alternate jerseys for just the second time this year, paired with our navy pants and the usual navy helmets. DB Jalen Ramsey was everywhere last week, getting himself eight total tackles, with 4 of them solo, earning the spotlight this week. #WaveOfDestruction

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

A tough loss to Buffalo leaves the Steelheads floundering. That was our third consecutive loss, and at 4-6, we have an uphill battle with just four games to play - especially given our schedule over the next few games. We'll need to start our climb with a game against division-leading LA. The Sabercats have finally seen their rebuild pay off and are having a strong year, but if we want to make the playoffs this year, this is looking like a must-win game for us. Hopefully, TE Trey McBride can keep up his recent stretch of strong play, having racked up 127 yards and a touchdown against the Bolts. #GoDeep

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

We took care of business against the Scorpions, and now we get to start talking about playoff implications! A win from us this week and a loss from the Scarecrows will lock up the division for us, as we finally get to play more against our own division. We travel down to Louisville to take on the Stallions, who have not had the rebound season they wanted to get back to the top of the Central. Featured for us this week is LB Patrick Queen, who stopped nearly every Arizona ballcarrier last week, leading the team with 12 total tackles (2 solo). We'll be shaking it up in the uniform department, wearing white on white for a pivotal road matchup.

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

AltFL Playoff stuff following Week 11

New York is the first team to clinch their division. They currently have a 3 game lead on both Buffalo and Philadelphia with three weeks to play. With New York holding the head-to-head tiebreaker on both teams, they both would need to win out. Unfortunately for the Bolts and Brawlers, Buffalo and Philadelphia play in week 14, so there cannot be a three way tie.

Orlando also clinched a playoff spot with their win, and with Tennessee's loss, they currently hold a 1 game advantage in the South Division and for the top seed in the playoffs.

Chicago is now in a two way battle for the Central Division, holding a two game lead on the Scarecrows. Chicago did win the head-to-head matchup earlier this season, so a win this week over St. Louis OR a Kansas City loss to San Antonio will give the Cyclones the Central Division crown.

The West division added the smallest bit of clarity this week when Arizona lost, as they cannot win the division. However, all five of the other teams are within 2 games with 3 to play, meaning the division is wide open. Utah currently has a game on Los Angeles and San Diego, and two games on Portland and Seattle, so Utah controls their own fate, and will win the division if they win out. Utah plays Seattle this week, so they will either eliminate Seattle from the division title, or create more chaos.

Lets look at the other side of things: Arizona is now in "must win" mode if they want a shot at the playoffs. A loss by Arizona, or wins by two of Buffalo, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, or San Diego will eliminate the Scorpions.

Kentucky, Milwaukee and St. Louis are all in the same boat, not quite as dire of a situation as Arizona though. Any of them would be eliminated from the playoffs with a loss AND wins by two of Buffalo, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, or San Diego. The Stallions will play against the Mallards this week, so one of them will definitely have playoff hopes still next week.

The West can drop two teams from the division race this week as well. With Seattle and Portland both 2 games back, the easier one is Seattle. The Steelheads play the division leading Raptors this week, and if Utah wins, Seattle will be eliminated. If The Steelheads win, they will still be alive for the division title. The Grizzlies will be eliminated with a loss to Carolina AND a Raptors win.

The division we didn't talk about was the South, and that's because Orlando owns a one game advantage on Tennessee with three to play. Even with a Galactics win over Minnesota and a Copperheads loss to Buffalo, Orlando's two game lead would still not clinch the division due to Tennessee's head-to-head win over the Galactics.

Fun things with the schedule:
- Arizona's final three games are all against teams that would currently be in the playoffs in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Utah.
- Buffalo, who currently would be in the 9th spot in seeding on a points tiebreaker by 5.85 points, faces 9-2 Tennessee, 10-1 Orlando, and the current 8th seed for the playoffs, 6-5 Philadelphia.
- Kansas City is currently in the 6th seed looking to claim their first playoff spot of the modern era with three teams outside the playoffs currently on their schedule with San Antonio, Dallas, and St. Louis.
- Orlando does control their own destiny when it comes to winning the South Division. Their remaining games? Minnesota, Buffalo, and Carolina.
- Another team set to face all teams that would be in the playoffs if they started today is St. Louis, with Chicago, Tennessee, and Kansas City all on the schedule.
- And Utah with their one game on the next best teams in the West Division sets them up for winning out to win the division. Their schedule is Seattle, Chicago, and Arizona.

Unrelated to the playoffs fun fact:
In week 10, Orlando led by J.J. McCarthy faced Milwaukee led by Malik Willis. At the time of the game, both of those quarterbacks had never lost a game as a starting quarterback in the AltFL. Orlando won, and with Orlando's win this week, J.J. McCarthy has 4 wins with no losses in the AltFL. The longest streak of wins before a first loss in AltFL history? Gardner Minshew, who got 5 straight. Keep an eye on Orlando against Minnesota this week and Buffalo next week (potentially) as J.J. looks to break that record.

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

The Steelheads pulled out a late win over LA to keep our season alive. We continue to face an uphill battle as we now go back on the road to play the Utah Raptors, who are now leading the division thanks in part to the Sabercats losing. As Dan so helpfully pointed out, we can still technically win the West, but we'll be eliminated if we lose to the Raps this week. On the other hand, we can apparently "create more chaos" if we win. I like that option. In aid of that goal, we'll continue to look to the passing attack; while Trey McBride continued to collect the most attention, WR Stefon Diggs has been one of our more consistent weapons as of late, and racked up 105 yards against Los Angeles. #GoDeep

Re: The AltFL Season 2025

We got out to an early lead against the Stallions and never looked back, putting us one step closer to the playoffs. The Scarecrows convincingly beat the Copperheads last week, so we'll have to wait another game to lock up the Central. Thankfully, we don't need to rely on any other team for this week, as we just need to win our next game against St. Louis in front our our home crowd to lock up the division. They haven't looked as hot as they were when they made their run to the title game, but that doesn't mean we should take a division rival lightly. We'll be back in the traditional home set and featuring DL/LB Micah Parsons, who could not be stopped by the Stallions' offensive line, netting six total tackles (one solo), one and half sacks, and a forced fumble.
