AltLB - 2025 Season
It's about that time... Season 4 of the AltLB is 49 days away, but we have to do our off-season stuff! Here's the timeline:
2/7/2025 - Owner's Meetings! Are you returning? Potential rules changes?
2/15/2025 - Due date to respond to Owner's Meeting poll. Trading opens through the trade council.
3/8/2025 - Keepers are due. Trading is closed until after the draft. Expansion Draft begins
3/15/2025 - Expansion Draft completed.
3/15/2025 - When2Meet for the draft will be posted
3/19/2025 - Draft date finalized and announced
3/21/2025 to 3/24/2025 - at some point during this time the draft will happen. Following the draft, trading resumes through Fantrax
3/27/2025 - First games happen

Okay, so... good news! We have our responses and we are moving from 16 teams to 18. This leads to a predicament to resolve... scheduling. As such, we have three options to resolve this:
Option 1 - We retain the A.L. and N.L. split as it was last season, adding Toronto to the A.L. and the... other new team selected... added to the N.L. We would then have everyone play every other team in their league 2 times, and playing 6 of the 9 teams from the opposite league 1 time. This has the advantage of retaining the A.L. and N.L. as is. However, it means you will not play three teams at all.
Option 2 - We retain the A.L. and N.L. split as it was last season, adding Toronto to the A.L. and the... other new team selected... added to the N.L. We would then have everyone play every other team in the league 1 time, and then play 5 other teams from their own league 2 times. This has the advantage of retaining the A.L. and N.L. as is and you would play every other team in the league at least once. However, it means your intraleague play would be uneven.
Option 3 - We add a third league, splitting the AltLB to 3 leagues of 6. This would set up the league so everyone would play everyone else in their division 2 times, and everyone else in the league 1 time. This would allow everyone to play everyone else in their division evenly and play everyone else in the league at least once. The divisions would be split based off historical performance, with the top team in each league retaining their league name. The new third league would have both new teams and 4 other teams. The playoffs would be the top team for each league plus 5 wild cards. For those of you who don't want to do the math, that's 8 teams.
Since I have to create the schedule off this, I will close this on Friday night.

The vote on league split is still ongoing. I want to hear your voice!
Secondly, we already knew that we had two new teams. Here's the official announcement for them. Both are teams returning to the AltLB, as Shaolin will resurrect the Toronto Talons!
Meanwhile, we will see the return of the Montreal Saints under the leadership of Matt1005. With the Saints having been moved to San Diego for the 2024 season, the new Montreal Saints will assume the history of the original Saints and the Pandas will be considered an expansion team as of 2024.

NOTE: THE DUE DATE HAS BEEN MOVED FORWARD ONE WEEK TO FACILITATE THE EXPANSION DRAFT FOR MONTRÉAL AND TORONTO. THIS IS A FIRM DUE DATE OF 3/8/2025 TO ENSURE THE EXPANSION TEAMS CAN PICK PLAYERS.
I've been fairly lenient with the due date in the past, but will be unable to be in this case so that Toronto and Montréal have the opportunity to go through the Expansion Draft process.
