Well, I'm not sure why a league would do it, but we relegated 4 teams and promoted 2 teams. We also didn't relegate the bottom 4 teams. We're weird like that. But, we say goodbye to CD Andes, Berlin 1871, IFK Stockholm, and London Public FC. We will be welcoming in two new teams with two new owners, as Edgeworth will be assuming the team out of Seoul, South Korea, the Bukchon Hanok Stripes, and Burmy will be taking over the team out of Mexico City, Mexico, CF Federal.
With the reduction of teams, the GEO Cup will be modified, and will be running similarly with 4 groups, with the winners moving on. However, they will move on to a 2 round single elimination tournament with the sole winner guaranteeing themselves a spot in the playoffs. With 14 teams, there will be 2 groups of 4 teams, and 2 groups of 3 teams. Bukchon Hanok Stripes, FC Tokyo Sakura, and Sydney Harbour FC will be one of the three team groups. Please submit what you feel is the best way to split the other 11 teams into two groups of 4 and a group of 1.
Now, keepers information. Soccer is a touch weird. Originally it was announced that you would be able to keep 5 players. And that's true, you keep 5 players with no restrictions. However, in order to ensure you are able to return over half your Starting XI, you can keep 2 extra players. These two players however are only able to be kept for this upcoming season BY ALL TEAMS. They will be marked with the Keeper designation in Fantrax, and I will have a list of them available throughout the season.
KEEPERS ARE DUE SATURDAY, AUGUST 3rd AT 11:59pm EASTERN. Please send them to altlb.dc@gmail.com before that date and time.

We restocked the team, and we're ready to go. Well, except new D Luke Shaw who went and hurt himself in a pre-season match. But no matter, we'll adjust and get ready to head to Japan to take on FC Tokyo Sakura. We'll be in the main kits for this one, and of course we're going to feature star player, midfielder Bukayo Saka! #RuleOfThePharaohs

Benvinguts and bienvenido to a new season of Atlético football! We're looking at a blank table, a rejuvenated roster, and quite a few injuries, so this XI might get the chance to develop some chemistry over the first few weeks. Luckily, our star player and captain Son Heung-Min is healthy and ready to lead the squad to our first match of the season. This year, we're getting our trip to Scotland out of the way while it's still warm, as we head north to face St. Mungo. That, of course, means we're breaking out the periwinkle to clash with the claret and blue.

A new season is ahead for Joburg, and we've freshened up a bit in the transfer window to make another run for the title. It'll also be a new team to face in the first match of the new year, as we are set to welcome CF Federal to the league at home. Our first featured player of the year is last year's breakout player and our goalscorer, English F Ollie Watkins, who tallied 20 goals and 13 assists in one of the league's most potent offenses. We'll be wearing the standard teals to begin the year.

Atlético kicked off its season with a win over St. Mungo to put three points into the table. We'll have a tough time maintaining that pace this week, as we travel to Bavaria to face the defending champions. Munich are also coming off a season-opening loss to Amsterdam, and they certainly won't want to start off with two straight losses. Our fight will be led in part by newcomer M Tomáš Souček, who made a stellar first impression for Barcelona fans, with an assist, two key passes, and six aerials. We'll also be in periwinkle for the second straight match.

Following a big win to start the season, as we went on the road and knocked off Tokyo, we head home to host Inter Istanbul at The Pyramid. Although Bukayo Saka led the way, we'd simply be remiss not to highlight the contributions of Amadou Onana. Stepping into the Starting XI with Luke Shaw's injury, Onana punched in a goal on his lone shot on target, and played a successful game on defense as well. #TheGoldStandard

That was not the way we wanted to start the season. A rough first outing gave Federal their first win in the modern era, and we were shut out to boot. We're hoping to rebound against Independencia on the road, with Norwegian captain Martin Ødegaard the featured player from last week, with two key passes and a shot on goal as the lone offense from the opener.
