Atlético put up a good effort, but ultimately, Joburg City FC was able to muster a comeback to pull ahead and clinch their spot in the playoffs. Now that the Geo Cup is over, we continue the regular season by flying south, to take on ... Joburg City FC. Weird. Anyway, we do get to play them in Johannesburg this time, which will mark our first-ever trip down to the Calabash. Obviously, these teams know each other pretty well now, so it'll certainly be a game to watch. We're awarding our first third-time feature today, and it goes to F Julián Álvarez, who put four shots on net against Lions G Jordan Pickford and scored on one of them.

The Golden Lions of Johannesburg put up an amazing effort, mustering a comeback against Atlético to pull ahead and clinch our way into the playoffs and hoisting the GEO Cup (or part of it, idk how the logistics of this tournament works). Now that the GEO Cup is over, we will continue the regular season back at home, to take on,,, Atlético Barcelona. Huh. Anyway, we get to play them back at the Calabash this time, and this time they want revenge for a hard-fought match last week (or a few days ago, again don't ask about the logistics of this league). Obviously, these teams know each other pretty well now, so it'll once again be a game to watch. We're awarding first-time feature D Illia Zabarnyi for this week, who stopped all but 1 of Atlético's shots and providing a key pass that set us up for the win. #StayGold

Wake up y'all! AltLiga is back ... sort of. Regardless, Atlético Barcelona kicks off against Alfa Roma tomorrow, as we welcome the Bolts to Camp Vell for the first time. With Atlético at the top of the table and Alfa near the bottom, it's easy to think that the game will be an easy one, but you never know, and we'll need to shore up every game to maintain our league lead, and of course, our opponents will need this game if they want to climb back into contention. Last week's Man of the Match was our second consecutive three-time winner, as M Alfie Doughty dominated the center of the pitch, earning himself assists on both Barcelona goals.

Joburg may have needed some time off for the holidays after the last match, as we got thoroughly beaten by Atlético in what was revenge from the GEO Cup. Now after the break, Joburg returns back to the Calabash to host Sydney Harbour, who are looking to solidify themselves in the top of the table after a win over Alfa Roma. We hope that it will be a well-fought match between two clubs nearing the top of the table, as we want to be competitive without a few key contributors this week (Tsimikas to injury, Kudus to AFCON, and Gomes to suspension). This week we will also be introducing our second three-time featured player F Ollie Watkins. Watkins was the primary contributor in a lackluster affair, netting two assists and a shot on goal against Atlético. #StayGold

Look, with all the snow at the home base for owner Dan O'Mac, we're a little behind on the graphic. Never fear, this game is really long, so we've got it here for you now! We'll be in the main kit for this one since we're at home this week against Olympique. And we're highlighting 18-year old midfielder Jack Hinshelwood!

Table following Game 17. Ragatas has claimed the top spot, so that's new!

That didn't feel so good. Sure, we were without some of our top forwards, but that's no excuse for allowing five goals against a team that would be in danger of relegation if that was a thing that we did. We've dropped out of the top spot on the table, but we're still in pretty good shape going forward. We've made some changes to our lineup since last week as we stay at home for a matchup with 1. VfV 1158 Munich. One thing that will be staying the same, though, is new addition D Tosin Adarabioyo, who stood out despite (or maybe in part because of) the ball always being in his end, with eight clearances, six aerials, and three interceptions.

Even with a few key players missing, Joburg still dominated Sydney, scoring three goals while GK Jordan Pickford got his 7th clean sheet of the season. M James Ward-Prowse knocked in his 4th goal of the season, while player of the game D Gabriel scored two goals, both headers off of JWP corners, in addition to 5 clearances, 5 aerials, and a clean sheet. We'll head to Europe for a two-match road trip, beginning this week against London. The Lionhearts have been dealing with injuries the past couple of weeks after splitting their last two matches, so we will see which London team will show up against the Golden Lions. No matter the team, Joburg is always ready for a competitive match. #StayGold

Eye of the Sun is coming off a loss last game, so looking to rebound as we head to Glasgow to take on St. Mungo. We're looking to get a win in this one and get back on track, and are looking to our defense and Dan Burn. He's been holding things down with the injuries to Cristian Romero, and now that we're getting healthy, we're going to look for him to keep things up and we can get some solid wins. We're going to be in the alternate uniforms for this one, looking bright in Scotland. #TheGoldStandard
