We are about to win against San Diego in the color rush game. There's about 3 minutes left as I post this.

Well, that loss was a real kick in the pants. After falling to 3-5, it's tempting to kick the can down the road, but the Steelheads know that we're still alive and kicking. It's time to kick off week 9, with - oh, who are we kicking kidding? You all already know what time it is: it's kicker week, baby! Rookie Brandon Aubrey survived a 3-man battle to become the last man standing in Seattle, and he's also going for an AltFL record this week, as he's yet to miss a field goal to begin his career. He'll look to keep that success going against a Chicago team that's similarly struggled to stay near .500, and it'll be a pivotal game for both teams, so it's sure to be one to watch.

It's Power Rank time! We see some upward movement this week, as both the Galactics and Explorers move up 3 spots. On the flip side is the Bolts and Raptors, who each slid back 3 spots. New York is still on top, and Minnesota is still on the bottom.

It may be kicker week in Seattle, but in New York, we're highlighting our Tight End! YOUR New York Emperors went out to Minnesota and had an offensive explosion to knock off the lowly Voyageurs. We're still on the road this week as we head to the South to take on the Tennessee Copperheads and Derwin F#&@%^$ James, the bane of our existence. We're going to need to score quick and often to put the Copperheads away, and we're going to look to the offense, including featured player Tingle Jingle Hockenson, more commonly known as T.J. We're in the standard road uniforms for this matchup, with the gray helmets, white jerseys, and gray pants. #ImperiumSineFine

And here we are, the championship for the 2023 AltFL Knockout title! Wait a second, who forgot to kick?
Jam, what happened... and where is your football? This is getting a little ridiculous....
Well anyway, thanks for playing. Dire and I, we will PICK HERE!

Despite a valiant effort, the Destroyers could not hold off the Stallions' comeback, resulting in a 3-5 record after eight weeks of play. After that loss, we return home to face our former division rivals, the Arizona Scorpions. Unfortunately, Brock Purdy will be unavailable for the game, so Derek Carr will return as our starting quarterback this week. The Destroyers are also participating in kicker week, but with Jake Moody unavailable, we'll highlight Greg "the Leg" Zuerlein instead. Our jerseys and helmets will still be the navy ones, but we are switching out the navy pants for grey pants to create an alternate home combination. #BattleReady #SDvsARZ

The Cyclones were able to hold off the Reapers for a win, as our offense was got trouble getting going but we were bailed our by a great outing by our defense. Second-year DL George Karlaftis led the charge against Carolina, recording seven tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble to hold onto the lead we had entering Sunday night. Back at .500 and chasing everyone else in the Central for the title, we travel to Seattle, who are struggling just about as much as we are this year. It's a pivotal game for both teams, so it will either be an entertaining game to watch or one that will put normal people to sleep and keep the sickos wide awake. #StormWatch

Week 9 saw YOUR New York Emperors lead the league in scoring, thanks to Joey Bosa refusing to let Derwin James get close to beating us. We head back to New York for Night at the Museum Night, with charity sales all around the Polo Grounds Concourse to benefit the American Museum of Natural History. And we're hosting our in-state rivals, the Buffalo Bolts in this one. Star QB Jalen Hurts is getting the week off, so we're suiting up number 15, Joshua Dobbs, as we look to build an even larger lead in the East Division. We're going to wear the standard home uniforms in this one, as we're wearing the gray helmet, yellow jersey, and gray pants. And it's Kicker Week™ here in New York, so we're highlighting kicker Tyler Bass! #ImperiumSineFine #TylerBassFanClub

We did it! The Destroyers cruised past the Scorpions, ending our losing streak at 3. The good news doesn't stop there - thanks to results around the division, we are now tied for the division lead again. This week, we're headed on a road trip to Chicago to take on the Cyclones, and we're ready for the challenge. This should be a very competitive match-up with the two teams hovering around .500. We'll be donning our Navy-White-Navy away set to take on the Cyclones, and we're excited for Kicker Week Part 2: Electric Boogaloo, as Jake Moody is back and ready to roll. #BattleReady #SDvsCHI

And before I forget, here's some Power Ranks! We saw a big jump from Boston, who jumped up 3 spots this week. Going the other way, both Portland and Los Angeles dropped 2 spots each. New York is still on top, Minnesota is still on the bottom. Chicago has a winning record, but is 16th based on their luck and being 4 games above expected. Utah is two games below expected, so I wouldn't want to see them on my upcoming schedule, despite a sub .500 record.
