The Wildcats did our part to earn an all important W against Minnesota, bringing us back to within one game of .500. Unfortunately, almost every single team in a playoff spot won this week - in fact, Edmonton was the only team outside the top eight to get a win - meaning that we're still two games out of the playoff picture despite being the first team on the outside. We will have an opportunity to make sure we make up some ground, as this week, we take on the lone playoff team that will be coming off a loss, the Winnipeg Arrows. A win will guarantee to put us just a single game out of playoff contention, while a loss will of course make our journey that much harder. We'll look to D-man Noah Hanifin, who scored two goals and blocked 5 Loon shots, to continue leading the way in what should be a tough battle.

Well, that was a loss. We're out of the playoffs, but we're going down fighting. Three weeks left, and we're gonna try and end some playoff hopes, starting with our rivals out west, the Loons. We'll be in the ivory road set for this one, and our featured player is recent acquisition, Jared McCann. #MilwaukeesFinest

Okay, so, playoffs. For those NOT in the know, the teams that win their divisions will be seeded 1 and 2. Seeds 3 through 8 in the playoffs will be the next 6 best teams regardless of division. So here's how things play out currently:
1 - Montreal Chevaliers (16-4) - they are locked in, they've won the Canadian Division, and will end with the top record
2 - Portland Sawblades (13-7) - Currently 1 game up on Boston, guaranteed to be in the playoffs
3 - Calgary Wranglers (13-7) - Guaranteed to be in the playoffs
4 - Ottawa Guardians (12-8)
5 - Halifax Kingfishers (12-8)
6 - Boston Rovers (12-8)
7 - Quebec Owls (11-9)
8 - Winnipeg Arrows (11-9)
9 - Edmonton Wildcats (10-10)
10 - Minnesota Loons (9-11)
11 - Charlotte Racers (9-11)
12 - Chicago Ghosts (9-11)
The Loons, Racers and Ghosts are all 2 games back with 2 to play. You can do the math on how the points need to shake out in that tie situation.
13 - Alaska Auroras (8-12) - ELIMINATED
14 - Denver Bighorns (6-14) - ELIMINATED
15 - Milwaukee 48ers (6-14) - ELIMINATED
16 - Toronto Terriers (3-17) - ELIMINATED

Wow, what a game. The Wildcats narrowly avoided blowing yet another late-game lead and managed to pull back ahead of the Arrows thanks to some late game heroics by W Zach Hyman, whose two late goals ended up being the difference. I'm sure he'll write a book about it sooner or later. With that result, and with the playoff picture clarified (thanks Dan!), we're now officially only one game out of the playoffs. We're also back to a .500 record for the first time since before we played any games, so that's neat. Next up, we have the Chicago Ghosts, who are on a bit of a skid and will now be playing to avoid elimination, so we'll have to bring our A-game this week.

We drop another one, and are playing hard to finish out this disappointing season. This week, we'll be taking on Quebec, a team currently in 7th only a game up on the Wildcats for the playoffs. So we can play a bit of spoiler this week with a win. We're going to be in the Ivory uniforms on the road for this one, as we highlight rookie forward, Dmitry Voronkov! #MilwaukeesFinest

Incredibly, with a win over the Ghosts and an Owls loss to Milwaukee, the Wildcats enter the final week of the season at 11-10 - our first time over .500 this season - and more importantly, in the final playoff spot. If we win this game, we will almost certainly clinch our very first postseason berth. The one tiny, minuscule, almost imperceptible issue is that our opponent is none other than the Montréal Chevaliers, who have been incredible all season, though I should note that one of their four losses this season did come against Edmonton. That said, if we lose, we can still find a path into the playoffs, so long as we get some help from Winnipeg and Charlotte, so go Fly Guys. For our final graphic of the regular season, we're highlighting winger Jake DeBrusk, whose two goals and four assists were crucial against Chicago.

Well that was fun, as the 48ers knocked of the Quebec Owls to make the playoff picture a little more murky. That doesn't affect us at all, but it affects other teams! We're going to close out our season with a home game against the Boston Rovers, who are fighting for a playoff spot still. We're in the home browns for this one and highlighting young defenseman Arber Xhekaj! #MilwaukeesFinest

And with that, the AltHL season comes to a close, with the Montreal Chevaliers claiming their second modern era championship.

Congrats, Montreal! A tough battle with the Sawblades leads to the thrilling conclusion to the season. Can't wait for next year!
