Re: The AltHL Season 2023

It feels like this is the twelfth time that we've held a lead late and blown it in disappointing fashion. It can't be, because we've only played nine games, but it's a frustrating pattern nonetheless. With the Wildcats sitting at 3-6, we'll need to start finishing these games off sooner rather than later so we can get some Ws. Hey look, here comes one now! The joke here is that we're facing off against the Arrows, and the Arrows logo is shaped like a W, and W also means win. If we can get a win in Winnipeg, it'll probably be because of LW/CBA (left winger slash children's book author) Zach Hyman, who scored a hat trick and finished with a +6 against Halifax.

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

Well, the 48ers jumped out to a lead, then lost it, then clawed back into the game, and then managed to lose it in the end to the Auroras. So now, we have to regroup, head out to Boston, and look to upset the Rovers. As such, we put on the standard ivory set, and we highlight center and captain of the 48ers, Nico Hischier! #MilwaukeesFinest

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

The Edmonton Wildcats are stuck in a time loop. For the second time this season, the Edmonton Wildcats have lost back-to-back games after entering both games with a lead on Sunday. To put it another way, if the Wildcats and their opponents simply took Sundays off, the Wildcats would be 7-3 instead of 3-7. I see only one solution to this problem:

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

This is not a drill, the 48ers won a game. And we beat the Boston Rovers for the first time ever. And we won by a lot. Look, it was beginning to look like this season was a loss, but we'll see if we can win a few more. Next up is a home game against the Halifax Kingfishers. They're coming into Manpower Arena, so we're going to get out the gold alternates. Our featured player this week is recently recalled forward Michael Rasmussen, who's been a key part of our offensive output. #MilwaukeesFinest

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

Well, the Wildcats kicked the snot out of the Terriers last week, which is a pretty good sign after our religious conversion last week. The real test, though, will come this week, as we swing over into French-speaking territory to take on the league-dominating, 10-1 Chevs. If the God of the Old Testament can't pull through and get us a win in this game, maybe D-man John Carlson can lead the way. Carlson accumulated four assists against Toronto, and was also dominant in his own end, with eight blocks. Gloria locusta.

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

With a big win over Halifax, there appears to be a bit more fight left in the 48ers than many anticipated. We're going to look to keep that rolling as we head to Alaska to close out 2023 in the Igloo. Neither team has had this season go the way we want, but we're looking for the receipt, as the Auroras beat us just a couple weeks ago. We're going to be in the standard Ivory jerseys this week, and we're highlighting forward Nino Niederreiter in this one. #MilwaukeesFinest

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

And we got beaten by the Auroras on a very late Smiley Bear comeback. Now we head to the bustling metropolis of Edmonton to ring in the new year with the Wildcats. Now? It's time for us to try and nab another win. We've got the Ivory set out again, and we are highlighting last week's top player, Stuart Skinner, who was at no fault in the loss to the Auroras. #MilwaukeesFinest

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

Hey, look at that! The Wildcats beat the best team in the league by a pretty considerable margin, and more importantly, we held onto a lead on Sunday! Things are certainly trending up, and the hope is that they keep trending up as we return home for one game to host Milwaukee. The 8ers, like the Cats, need to pull out some wins in order to get back into playoff contention, and given how these teams are built, it'll likely be a chippy one. Another similarity between these two teams is that both of us are highlighting players that were previously dropped by the Edmonton Wildcats. Luckily, we picked Mason Marchment back up, and while he was quiet most of last week, he heard the Good Word on Sunday, and was moved to pick up a hat trick plus an assist all on the day of rest. Gloria locusta.

Re: The AltHL Season 2023

It took some late game heroics from C Mark Scheifele and W Nino Niederreiter, but we'll take the win over the home team in Edmonton. We don't have time to rest on our laurels, however, as we head back to Milwaukee to welcome the Wranglers to Manpower Arena. Calgary has been playing some good hockey, so we're going to need to keep up the form we had for the last matchup. We'll be in the standard brown set for this one, and are featuring G Darcy Kuemper! If you need a goalie, Darcy's on the trading block! #MilwaukeesFinest
