Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

Here we are with the Midseason of the 1971 MLA Season! (I will be looking to improve my write ups, end season write ups will be better)

Things look to be going perfectly for the East champions Toronto and West champions Chicago. However, Cleveland and Louisville look to be on the up and up.

Coming in with a 3-4 record, Manhattan looks to be very humbled. As for Boston, they show some worry as this was their midseason record last year and they finished with a 4-10 record.

Nobody knows what Cliff did over there with the Jackals, but he managed to get 2 wins on the season so far. Golden Horseshoe just seems to be in the middle here, there is certainly room for improvement. As for Philadelphia, it seems to be an off year for sure. Their players are not performing to the best of their ability and the morale there is on the low.

And lastly we are brought to the basement with the 0-7 Otters. The Otters still look to be in the development stage with their younger talent. They can only wait and see what is too come.

Important Games
-Philadelphia Vs St. Louis
It was in the third quarter and Philadelphia was leading 2-1. The aggression got the best of St. Louis defenseman, Archer Vaughn, as he threw a punch on Philadelphia attackman, Eddie York. This resulted in the St. Louis bench storming the field as a brawl was destine to ensue. Surprisingly, the referees managed to clear the field and the game was called with Philadelphia receiving the win. Archer Vaughn suspended for the rest of the season.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

The 1971 Season Final Standings have arrived.

The East
Toronto took care of business, going 13-1 with their only loss coming from Chicago. Manhattan, specifically Simon, was furious over their performance this year. The Boston Seawolves certainly turned it around from next season, granted it was only a 3 win difference but it is getting there. There is nothing really to say about Philadelphia and Golden Horseshoe, except that they tried.

The West
Chicago is still on top and is looking to repeat as champions, but they have multiple threats ahead of them. Cleveland definitely improved from last season. Going from 8-6 to 11-3 is a massive improvement and they are looking to crown themselves as champions. Louisville started out strong but fell off a little. Louisville still put in a huge effort this season. Even though Colorado finished 4-10, Cliff definitely improved and he looks to improve the team more. St. Louis can be explained simply, it went awful.

The Playoffs
Surprisingly, the league never fully designed the playoff structure. The 1970 season they just took the top 4 teams. This struck a real problem, if they took the top 4 then the West would get 3 teams and the East would get 1.

It was drawn to a vote and some final rules were added:
-Each division winner will make the playoffs regardless.
-The other teams would be decided by record.

So the playoffs would be structured as followed. These would be the rules until another vote came up:
E1.Toronto Falcons Vs W3.Racing Louisville
W1.Chicago Cardinals Vs W2. Cleveland Thunderbirds

Simon was furious and demanded that Manhattan and Louisville play a play-in game to decide the 4th seed. However, Chicago's owner Brenton shot this down. He stated how it would be ridiculous because he knew that Simon was saying this because it was his team. If it were any other team, Simon wouldn't care.

With this rule being official, who do you think will win the MLA Championship?

Chicago ran away with the game in the 4th Quarter. This is the second time in a row that Chicago and Toronto will meet in the MLA Championship.

During the game, Cliff's friend, Crate was spotted. He apologized for how he had acted in the previous meeting and he said he was deciding between Omaha and Kansas City to host a team. He said he would have a decision by the MLA Championship.

Where do you think Crate will put his team?
Who do you think will win the MLA Championship?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

Although I think Omaha is the more fun option, with the timeframe we're in right now, Kansas City seems more logical.

This was an action packed championship game! Chicago could not repeat and Toronto will get their first trophy. The trophy will now be held at Falcon Park II in Toronto. The game was very significant, two players had hat tricks, Chase Wildgoose from Chicago and Newt Johnny from Toronto. Brenton and Manny met each other at midfield after the game, they shook each other's hand and both wished each other good luck in the 1973 season.

There was not only a game, Crate made it his business to announce his location after the game. He said in his firm voice that he would be adding a team in Omaha, Nebraska. He said it would not be a brand new team. He said his brother, Clay, was done with owning the team, so Crate jumped on the opportunity. So, Crate and his Omaha team because the first expansion team in MLA history. He was asked why he announced it at the game, he simply said, "Because I wanted to".

Well Crate is certainly a character... what do you think about the Omaha expansion?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

1971 Offseason Meetings
Manhattan, New York

Simon stepped up to the podium. "Thank you for joining us!" he said. "In this meeting we will be announcing the addition of two new teams!". An applause arose from the fellow owners. "Now, I would like to allow the new owners to say a little something about their team".

Crate practically exploded out of his seat. "Howdy, the name is Crate, Crate Ton, and my new team will be in Omaha, Nebraska". Some of the owners showed looks of concern, it didn't seem like it could work out. But... if Cliff could make Colorado work, perhaps Crate could make Omaha work. "I would also like to announce that the branding is still in the works" Crate added. Crate walked away from the podium and grabbed a turkey and cheese sub from the table of food and took a seat. "Th... thanks Crate" Simon said as he rolled his eyes.

The other new owner stepped up, he looked like your average guy. "Hey, I'm Fulton Salem and my team will be in Washington, D.C.". The crowed clapped. It seemed like a good idea to go to the nation's capital at an early stage. "The team will be called the Eagles. A proud and strong bird that perfectly describes my team" Fulton said. "I believe that is all" Fulton said as he walked off and shook Simon's hand.

Simon stepped back up, "We will also be adding a draft. A 2 round draft to be exact". The owners showed looks of surprise. This did not seem like something Simon would want to add. "Free agency will still be a thing, however players fresh out of college or amateur players who choose to enter will be draftable. The order will be announced at a later date" Simon added. Look forward to seeing how this goes!

How do you think the draft will work out?

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

The time has come upon us with the first MLA expansion team!

This is Crate Ton's team, the Omaha Union Lacrosse Club! The club was originally Crate's brother's team but Crate managed to take over. The team was founded in 1958 by workers from the Stockyards, they wanted something to do besides working in the stockyards. The Stockyarders began playing against local teams with an occasional trip to Chicago to play a couple teams in that area. The team was never really professional until this moment. Crate had to work a lot of magic to get this accomplished but he did it... for now...

The Union play at Stockyards Stadium. A 10,000 seat stadium which has hosted football before. Crate has been hyping up his team telling them that it will be packed with more than 10,000 people. Crate was very optimistic.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

As of now I am working on the uniform sets for DC as well as some other lacrosse stuff. But for now, if you would like to submit a prospect or multiple prospects for this upcoming season's draft, you are more than welcome too.

Re: The Major Lacrosse Association

Wooo! What a doozy... I'm back.

The DC Eagles Lacrosse Club are here! They are owned by the man, the myth, the legend Fulton Salem. The Eagles were founded in 1942 and have been pretty successful in their previous amateur leagues. They have 10 Capital League titles against teams from Maryland and Virginia. The Eagles look to compete and spark a new dynasty, that nobody would suspect.

The Eagles play at DC Lacrosse Park which seats 5,000 people. It is a newer stadium that was built just for lacrosse.
