Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

Well, Here we are. You will follow the story of 12 Tennessee High school football teams from Coffee, Moore, and Grundy County. In the late 80's 3 people got together named Earl Sanders, Ricky Prochay, and Dennis Fulmer. They had one goal, bring high school football to the rural parts to middle Tennessee. Earl (originally hailing from Manchester, TN) convinced the Manchester school board to reopen their football team with their own school district, providing more funds to that school, especially the football team. This set them apart from everyone else in the league. Ricky was able to convince 5 more Coffee County schools including Tullahoma, Lakewood Park, Arnold, Hillsboro, and Summitville. Dennis did more work getting Lynchburg who has had a team for 40 years, to join the new league. He also got 5 Grundy County schools in Allamont, Tracy City, Pelham, Palmer, and Coalmont. With this being said, the three founders got to work on planning out their inaugural season, 1990.

WHAT GOES INTO THE DESIGN: When you look at your former high school what do you see? A well thought out brand scheme with a complex brand structure? No. Your see a recycled, recolored, and reused logo. And when your talking about rural Tennessee high school teams in the 90's? There is none. Each team has their own seperate identity based on either a college, NFL, or MLB team. These logos are only being used for realism sake and have no intention of ripping off actual teams. They simply serve the purpose of giving the most realistic depiction of high school football in the 90's. As this series progresses you'll see the evolution of each of these teams brands and identity. As for the jerseys, not much can be said. Each team has their jerseys bought from the same place and has relativly the same design. Hopefully this clears up some things about the intentions of this series design, while im not the greatest designer in the world this was the best in i can get into this community without overbearing myself with a huge project. I hope to expand this project and I'll see all of you very soon!

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

MANCHESTER PATRIOTS: Earlier this year Manchester City Schools was formed and plans to build a brand new high school were put forward to the school board. Along with that the board agreed to field a football team for the 1990 season. With that the school hired longtime Tennessee Football assistant Brett Riley. Brett bounced around UT for a while in different spots before landing with Manchester. Brett was tasked with building a staff around him so he brought in OC Patrick Fletcher and DC Ray Dillingham. Manchester without a doubt is already one of the most talented teams in the league already. With that being said it changes the way they look at playcalling and playstyle over other teams. OC Pat Fletcher brings in a traditional Pro Style offense to the table predicated around the I Formation and Singleback sets. An offense that revolves around the playmakers as you can tell. Same thing on the defensive side as Ray Dillingham brings forth a traditional 3-4 style that makes its money stopping the run. This Patriots team is one to watch and with a new high school getting built they are sure to have some top talent around the state heading their way. They will be a top team in 1990
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Parker Bronswell #14 JR 88OVR 6'2 175
RB: Tyler Cristwell #34 SR 85OVR 5'11 205
TE: Bo Tisdale #81 JR 83OVR 6'4 225
Like mentioned previously Manchester is loaded with talent and these players will be the ones leading the way. Parker Bronswell is a very accurate QB with a great arm, he also adds great leadership with the team. He should be a top QB this season. Tyler Cristwell is a very fast and elusive RB, his mix of low base and hard running is tough for opponets to stop. TE Bo Tisdale is a threat anywhere on the field, being the best TE in the league he has the ablility to strech the field and be an elite red-zone target. All three players are being highly recruited and should all go to P5 schools.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

TULLAHOMA BRAVES: One of 5 teams out of the Coffee County school system the Tullahoma Braves are a team that brings a unique style to everything that they do. Led by first-year HC Dick Battle the Braves look to run a true Triple Option offense, OC Randall Cutler learned the offense under Bear Bryant at Alabama and adopted it to fit his styles. Cutler cut his teeth around some of the most famous staffs in the country but after retiring Coach Battle came to him looking for help. the former assistant could not turn down to coach a team in his hometown and will bring a different element to what will be a very well coached football team. As for DC Chad Martin, this is his first year as a fulltime coordinator, and he runs a traditional 4-3 style defense predicated around a balanced attack. Tullahoma is a team that will be very interesting to watch this season, some even thought that Coach Cutler should've been their HC and Coach Battle should've been the OC, but we will just have to wait and see how it plays out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Seth Willis #8 SR 79OVR 6'0 180
FB: Lloyd Kerr #40 SR 88OVR 5'11 230
WB: Lucas Shaw #10 SR 81OVR 5'9 195
The feeling around this team is that they have to win now, thier best 3 players on offense are leaving after this season and HC Dick Battle is preaching a title this season. Seth Willis is the perfect option QB with his ablility to read the defense and Lloyd Kerr is one of if no the best Fullbacks in the game. Its going to be tough to see if they can put together title team though. Lucas Shaw is a very underrated RB that should make a great fit as well.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

LAKEWOOD PARK COUGARS: Led by former Regions Bank franchisee Roger Seale, the Lakewood Park Cougars are one of the smallest teams in the league, coming in with around 45 kids on the team, this staff has their work cut out for them. Former Middle School coach Walton Riggs take the helm of the offense and will run a traditional Pro Style approach. DC Alan Lee brings a very complex Multiple Style defense predicated around different looks and confusion. Being a small team Lakewood will have to catch some teams by surprise, but with an unpredictable defense and hopefully a passable offense, the Cougs' can find a way to snatch some wins, especially with competitive teams like Manchester and Tullahoma in their division
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Marcus Lacy #14 SR 76OVR 5'11 170
RB: Danny Berger #21 JR 79OVR 5'8 180
WR: Preston Bellenfant #85 JR 77OVR 6'0 175
Like mention before, Lakwood Park has a tough challenge ahead. QB Marcus Lacy has no easy task leading his understaffed squad through the Coffee county division. Danny Berger is a hardnosed back butcan easily get tackled. Preston is a good WR but nothing too crazy. Like I said, tough task.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

ARNOLD AIR HAWKS: When the idea of a football team came to the front desk of SGT. Grant Williams, he said "f**k out my office I'm trying to eat this meatloaf." But after a school was built nearby the Arnold Air Force base the idea was brought back up, the school board granted the school a football team and Air Hawk football was born. HC Ron Crumple Jr has had experience coaching other schools in Tennessee and decided to head over to Arnold after getting the experience to start from scratch. At OC he hired his son Mickey Crumple to run a traditional Pro Style offense and DC Terry Martinsville will run a 3-4 defense. Arnold is joining Coffee County Schools so they will be splitting funding with 5 other schools, so time will tell if they can put together a competitive squad.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Kerry Bray #9 JR 80OVR 6'2 190
WR: Bennie Sherwood #89 SO 80OVR 6'1 170
TE: Vernon Farrell #87 JR 76OVR 6'2 200
Arnold will have a solid offense headed into the 1990 season, QB Kerry Bray will lead the way with his strong arm. Getting the ball to playmakers wont be a problem with Sophmore deep threat Bennie Sherwood and red-zone target Vernon Farrell.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

HILLSBORO BLUE DEVILS: Easily one of the smallest schools in the league the Blue Dev’s have an uphill battle from the start. HC Steve “Stubby” Caldwell will have to manage one of the smallest rosters in the league coming in at 30 kids. OC Wayne Grant brings in a nuanced Run n’ Shoot offense to the table predicated on the QB getting out of the pocket and getting it to receivers. The defense is run by Zeb Ellison and loads up the box with a 4-4, using an extra linebacker to load up an 8-man box. Enrollment in the school is sparse but they were able to put together a team and are hopefuls for a playoff spot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Jake Gamble #7 SO 85OVR 6'1 185
WR: Kamden Summers #11 SR 80OVR 6'0 190
WR: Mark Ridley-Thomas #31 SO 80OVR 5'9 165
"Stubby" Caldwell has a great base to build around as 2 of his 3 top players will have 3 more seasons left. And they already have great talent. Jake Gamble is an insanly accurate QB but lacks huge arm strength. His two WR's Kamden Summers and Mark Ridley-Thomas are both very sure-handed and both are good weapons for the Run-n-Shoot.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

SUMMITVILLE SENATORS: The last team out of Coffee County, the Senators look to build a solid squad for the 1990 season, HC Lamar Alexander brings a unique style to offense. He will mostly run it with the help of official OC Bobby Carr. They will be the only team running the Wing T offense in the league, setting up a challenge for everyone. They will have one of the largest schools in the district and have no shortage of talent just like Manchester. They will be proximity rivals with Lakewood Park and are set up very well for the future. The defense run by Tom Castle will be a traditional 3-4 and is set to be a sturdy unit across the board. Summitville should be a playoff team, keyword should.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Tony Jefferson #4 JR 78OVR 6'0 190
FB: Nate Holden #49 SR 84OVR 6'0 220
RB: David Brenner #33 JR 79OVR 5'10 205
The wing T is definitly a diffrent style of offense, but if anyone can run it its these guys. QB Tony Jefferson is quck and fast and presents a diffrent element that breaks from the mold of the Pro-Style pocket passer. Nate Holden is a bruising FB and runs hard. David Bonner is a very balanced back.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

LYNCHBURG REBELS: The Rebs come into the league as an already established team led by HC Daniel Jackson, Coach Jackson has been coaching for 20 years already and this will be his 8th year at Lynchburg. The offense is run by Ernie Howard, they run an IOption based on inside run and play-action. The multiple defense is run by Oscar Glass and is set on chaos and confusion. Lynchburg like I mentioned before is an established team but never had a set division and schedule. They are going to be huge rivals with Tullahoma as their former DC is now Tullahoma’s DC, Chad Martin. So we will have to see how it plays out. They will absolutely run the ball and run the clock as well. The Rebels are the only team from Moore County and will have all the funding and support they need. Should be a fun team to watch, not as fun to play.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
John Cole #10 SR 84OVR 6'2 195
RB/HB: Garrett Warren #42 JR 86OVR 6'0 225
RB/HB: Ronnie Clark #46 SO 81OVR 6'1 215
Lynchburg is set to be one of the top teams for next season and their offense is joke. John Cole is a very diverse QB that has a good arm and solid rushing ability. Both backs Warren and Clark should be a solid 1-2 punch

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

ALLAMONT TIGERS: One of the most straightforward teams there is, HC Bill Bumpers runs a tight ship and has a fairly populated team with around 70 kids. Allamont runs a Power I offense based on inside running and play action. It differs from the IOption in the way that the main focus is plays for the running back and not reads for the QB. The OC is Jay Hood, Jay comes from Alabama but got the call from Bill a few months ago to come up and coach. Bumpers and Hood may coach the Offense, but the defense is led by Walt Packer. Walt runs a very traditional style of multiple defense with 3 true base looks, the 3-4, 4-3, and 3-3-5. If run correctly he can have one of the best units in the division. Allamont will have its work cut out for them but they look to really capitalize on the weaker Grundy/Moore county division.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Tom Stopak #15 SO 73OVR 6'1 175
RB: Bernard King #22 SR 81OVR 6"0 220
FB: Raymond Hood #40 JR 75OVR 5'11 210
Stopak won't have to do too much as Jay Hood's offense will predicate around the power run. With that being said RB Bernard King will have to carry the load of this offense.

Re: Mid-Tennessee High School Football League (MTHSFBL)

TRACY CITY MINERS: Coming into this season its easy to forget about the Tracy City Miners, a normal Pro Style 4-3 team, but the Miners may have one trick up their sleeve. HC Hugo Bonner has a son, and that son is one of the states best track stars, Cameron Bonner. And if Hugo can convince him to play football he will easily become one of the best players in the league, other than that Tracy City has around 60-70 kids on the team and don't do much to stand out. OC Bob Robertson comes from Tracy City and only got the job because he was the only person to show up for the interview. The DC Buster Goss has little experience as well, only being a graduate assistant at UT-Chattanooga for a few years. The Miners are a mixed bag, on one hand if Cameron plays, they have a chance to be one of the most explosive teams out there. On the other hand if these coaches can't figure it out they’ll be in for a long season.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOP PLAYERS:
QB:
Tyler Queen #12 JR 75OVR 6'2 180
RB/WR: Cameron Bonner #1 JR 95OVR 6'1 190
TE: Shannon Healy #80 SO 74OVR 6'2 225
Tracy City has one thing going for it, Cameron Bonner. The former track star made the switch to football and became a superstar. He had the oppurtunity to go to a bigger Tennesee school but decided to stay with his father, Hugo. QB Tyler Queen is a solid player that can get people the ball. TE Shannon Healy will be solid as well.
