Re: Velo (Team Bicycle Racing Sport)

I like the use of the font on the jersey. For the format its pretty revolutionary.

Re: Velo (Team Bicycle Racing Sport)

Tuesday, June 17 – Ottawa, Ontario
The first of two expansion franchises to be sold for the 1892 season was announced sold today.  In Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, Commissioner Hubert Gotti introduced Philip Ross; a journalist, newspaper owner, and hockey promoter.  Ross has purchased a velo franchise for the city of Ottawa.  He has acquired the rights to place the team in and use Rideau Skating Rink as the home arena.  Ross announced that his team will keep with the recent trend of giving teams simple names.  He will call his team the Ottawa Velo Club.  Logos and uniform designs are to come.

Monday, September 8 – Ottawa, Ontario
Proudly the Ottawa Velo Club unveiled their logo and uniforms.  The logo features a depiction of a lumber mill with a forest behind it.  These images link the team to Ottawa’s history and geographical locality.  Arched near the top of the logo is the teams name Ottawa Velo Club and below that is the teams chosen slogan, “The Queen’s Choice”.  This slogan barrows from the fact that Ottawa was said to be Queen Victoria’s choice as the Canadian capital city back in 1857.

Ottawa looks good! This is an interesting concept for sure, fun to follow along. Pretty sure Boston #2 is gonna fail however.

Re: Velo (Team Bicycle Racing Sport)

Monday, December 15 – Boston, Massachusetts
Commissioner Hubert Gotti as well as P.T. Barnum, the chairman of the owner’s board, have been genuinely concerned by their inability to sale the second of two franchises offered up for the 1892 season.  Today, they were able to announce the sale of that franchise.  It comes as a bit of a compromise.  The franchise has been sold to Boston businessman Ivers Whitney Adams.  Adams, who has been involved with the organizing of professional baseball in Boston, wanted to purchase a velo franchise to be established in Boston.  Barnum, as the owner of the Boston Checkers, was opposed at first.  As it grew ever more clear that no other offer for the franchise was going to come forward, Barnum relented and agreed to sale the team to Adams.  Adams’ team will share Faneuil Hall with the Checkers as their home arena.  No name, logo, or uniforms are yet prepared.
