The Giants will most likely have a Paul Bunyan-themed look...the Redwoods would most likely have a tree-themed look.

If we have both the Voyageurs and the Explorers in the AltFL, I don't see this being a problem.

To defend him here, it’s okay to have two tall like names in a league. Redwoods and Giants can go two completely unique ways in the design process. And to echo Burmy, Voyageurs and Explorers coexist in the same division in the AltFL, so there isn’t a real issue with similar name themes. Sustained or Overruled, Judge Gritty?

Paul Bunyan is an lumberjack, right? Redwoods are trees, so we have a problem because in the same Matter Matadors and Bulls are not in the same league, fans would hate one another simply by their names showing superiority from one another. Paul Bunyan would cut down the Redwoods, so the name doesn't make sense in this universe!

The NHL has the Sharks and Penguins in the same league. SHARKS EAT PENGUINS! And yet, no one complains about it. Your statement is not well-researched, evidently.

And don't forget...
Lions and Bears in the NFC North.
Dragons and Fire in NFL Europe.
Eagles and Cardinals formerly in the NFC East before the 2002 realignment.
Chargers and Broncos in the AFC West if you count a Charger as a horse.
Bruins and Golden Bears in the Pac-12.
Three sets of Tigers and two sets of Bulldogs in the SEC.
Two Magpies in Australian Rules Football if both Collingwood and Port Adelaide were to share the same mascot.

Re: AltBA Design Thread

And the fact that baseball legit has the Red Sox and White Sox, traditional or not, that's rather stupid in my mind

Re: AltBA Design Thread

I had to chuckle a little bit over the argument surrounding Redwoods. A tree is the least controversial mascot possible. I think everyone is talking about two different things that this point.

First, Giants are tall and the Redwoods are tall. Their heights have no reason to cancel each other out. It would be like only one hockey team could be named after something 'cold'. Categories have never been a problem with our naming process. If we used that thought process for the NFL, we'd have to talk to the five bird names and four big cat names.

Second, it is true Paul Bunyan is a Lumberjack and Redwoods are trees. Let's forget that Bunyan was never near a California Redwood. I think at the worst it would make a funny rivalry between Minnesota and San Jose.

So Redwoods is good to go.

@Scratch I never even thought about Scarecrows/Crows for Kansas City. But I think it would be funny as well. I can picture you theme the entire KC Sports Complex as a farm and pasture.

As for the moment you've been waiting for. The Group B Finals! The ratings were much closer this time. There are a lot of great branding opportunities across the board.
