Re: West Coast Elite Hockey League

Look at that, back for a third time in a day. Because of you, there has been a dangerous amount of individuals jumping in and out of my reality trying to learn more about our hockey, of all things! We have harnessed the power of the atom to create nuclear energy and all you wan--- Oh, your dimension has too? Well, I guess my best use for you is hockey, then. Let’s head to the other side of the Bay, where Jed Diggins has claimed California as his own even though 4/7 teams in the league are located in the state.

CALIFORNIA GRIZZLIES
https://i.imgur.com/I83Hgby.jpg

Jed was a normal individual in his youth, becoming friends with Zamboni at a young age. He grew up living a gold standard lifestyle, literally. The Diggins family found their wealth during the Gold Rush in San Francisco. Since the time the family found their wealth, each descendent has grown the Diggins name to be one of the most respected in Northern California by using investments from the family… Well, all but Jed. Our Diggins character did find early success with his own hair care product line, but that did not last long. When he was 27, Jed had an unfortunate pickaxe accident while reenacting how his family found their wealth in his one man play titled “Gold Diggin”. While Jed did suffer some memory loss and half of his sanity, the crowd at the family reunion he was performing at only had good things to say about his play.

After Zamboni took care of Diggins for a month, Jed was back on his feet and looked to be doing fine. This was until he had his own breakthrough, thinking that he needed to get into the “family business”. Jed now uses all his money to mine empty caves for gold. This would be an acceptable hobby, but the problem is that he partakes in this activity under a large corporate entity. He likes to say, “Every business is failing until it’s not”. --- I mean, he isn’t wrong, I guess.

As for the team, Diggins decided he would land on the name “California” instead of “San Francisco” because he insists that “Diggins” is “California”. I would like to say the “Grizzlies” came from a more creative process, but the previous logic was used for this part, as well. “Diggins” is to “California” as “Grizzly” is to “California”.

The logo fits the simple thought process, only using college block font and stars when the team feels like it. The same could be said about the team’s jerseys, which have as close to nothing on them as one could get. “A real traditional look”, is the nicest way to put it. There was supposed to be gold in the color palette, but Jed got distracted by an episode of “I Love Lucy” and was not able to submit the change in time.

The team, itself, has some fire power. Diggins bought scouts and those scouts bought what they could find. The shining gem of the Grizzlies, and possibly the league, would be Billy McGorrie. The New York native is hitting his prime, outshining the best of the senior leagues on the East, all while winning “Best Mustache” in his previous league 5 consecutive years. I don’t know about scoring title, but I am sure he will capture that coveted 6th “Best Mustache” title this year.

I have to say the story of Jed Diggins exhausts me. -- Oh, I see you have fallen asleep… Well, I guess you can stay the night then. We will get back to this tomorrow! There is still so much more to share.

Re: West Coast Elite Hockey League

The Grizzlies look great! Diggins seems to be quite the character, and not submitting gold because he was distracted by TV feels like something so uniquely stupid that it wraps around to being believable.

Thanks! Jed did a decent job for having a reputation of trying to fit the circle peg in the square hole, if you know what I mean. Fun fact: The Grizzlies having a lighter pants color that do not match the rest of the uniform isn’t an error made by Diggins, it’s the only logic pulled from outside his own head in the creation process. Diggins was quoted saying, “My Pa always told me that if you want to look professional you wear khakis. No one else wearing khaki trousers in this league, so I’d say we look the most put together”.

Re: West Coast Elite Hockey League

Good morning, I made some coffee if you want it. --- Well, that is incredibly rude. Why did you spit it out? – It tastes like heated up Coke? Great palette, Sherlock, that’s what coffee is here. – Let me get this straight. In your dimension you people put hot water through beans and drink it? Is bean soup your breakfast? – I threw up a little in my mouth from the thought of that. Let’s move on. Where were we? Ah yes, the most mysterious team in the league.

LAS VEGAS FLAMINGOS
https://i.imgur.com/FXMSEKX.jpg

I wish I had a story about this team’s owner, but all anyone has ever heard is Zamboni calling him “Bug Seagull”, or something like that. A real stupid name if you ask me. There are speculations about the guy that fly around. My favored one is that he is too ugly to show his face. Whatever the story is, we might never know.

https://i.imgur.com/Fl4eSch.jpg

The team has a mixed bag of reviews when it comes to identity. The fact that they have a mascot that shows no aggression sets some people off, but it’s the use of pink that pushes them over the edge. Fans of rival teams have been heard calling them “soft boys”, saying that “girly colors don’t belong in my sport”. Personally, I don’t think they are comfortable with their own masculinity. The Flamingos are named after the fabulous place that hosts their games, the Flamingo Hotel. Sure, the city is odd due to a smaller population, but they fit right in as a main attraction to aid the aspiring city’s tourist boom. The colors are inspired by a casino chip from the Flamingo, and the jerseys were constructed to balance this odd mix as much as possible.

The Flamingos are led by 5’9” (or 6’1” if the count the hair), Anastasio Moran. The 25-year-old is another one of many New York natives bringing their talents to the WCEHL, looking for better opportunity as the NHL stalls in growth. Moran is extremely talented, but his attitude matches that of his club. He is loud, wise cracking and scrappy when his head gets hot, and that happens often. Anastasio is partnered with a cool-headed veteran named Barry Peterson. The 34-year-old Indiana product created the perfect balance for his better half, acting as a mentor to Moran.

Yea, I know. I am just as confused about this team and it is my own universe. – It’s best not to think about it. Return to sipping on your hot bean juice, you freak.

Credits roll, but don’t leave yet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(The scene shifts to an unfamiliar environment, or is it very familiar? We are in our own world (let’s call it “True Earth”). The room seen is one filled with too much Boston for the narrator’s taste, but to each their own. There is an individual at a desk banging their head against the keyboard. With every drop of the head the computer monitor can be seen. On the screen is, what looks like, a boardhost site with the user “Darknes” logged in.)

(The headbanging stops.)

     Darknes
“This isn’t even a mystery anymore. It is quite obviously Bugsy----”

(A flash occurs and everything turns to black. Darknes wakes up dazed in a dark room full of smoke. A shadow outlining a man walks up to them.)

     Darknes
“Are – are you Bugsy Siegel?”

     The Shadow
“Look at dat boys, we’s got a wise guy. Whossa eva name their child dat? No, I’m Bugles Seagull, the most feared Italian in ze town, badda-bing.”

(Darknes, knew what was in front of them had to be Bugsy Siegel, due to their extensive knowledge of history.)

     Darknes
“What year is it? Where am I”

     Bugles Seagull
“Lissen, one more crack out of yousse and I’ll has ya sleeping with da fishes, capisce? Nows I don’t know hows yousse got in my office, but that takes some guts, kid, and I admires that. I thinks you could fit in here at the Flamingo. Whats yousse think?”

(Bugels reaches out a hand, offering it to Darknes to help stand them up.)

(It is all coming together for Darknes, as their eyes dart around the room. The obvious Siegel calling himself Seagull, the overly exaggerated Italian accent, the Flamingo, oh no, the Flamingo. Darknes takes the hand of Bugles and as they are lifted they spot a peak through a window that gives a clear view to – an ice surface. It could not be, but it was. A banner is seen in the rafters that depicts a flamingo with text under it that reads “Las Vegas Flamingos, Est. 1953”.)

The innocent exchange of one offering a hand to help another up. Common courtesy in most cases, but a different story this time. – The mysteries of the world reached out, offering a hand to an unsuspecting victim, pulling them into the unknown and creating more questions than answers. This was not our world, though. Darknes has taken the journey into the – Twilight Zone.

(Cue Stranger Things outro theme.)

Re: West Coast Elite Hockey League

Bugsy Siegel was murdered in 1947, which would explain why no one has seen him.

Best bet is that events played out differently in this universe. I’m pretty sure Bugsy was Jewish, as well. On the other hand, Bugles Seagull is some sort of Italian and is much feared. Maybe Siegel created a new identity after an attempt on his life had happened, but man did he not do well when it came to a new name, if that was the case! Hahaha

Also, I must stress that our world’s facts and data do not necessarily apply to what is happening here. This is an exaggerated universe, so, when our real world started having the Vegas boom, this reality also had the Vegas boom but 10x bigger and faster. This is why I mention that the team is a main attraction for tourism. Despite the lower number of actual residents, tourism for the area has ramped up dramatically and the hockey is treated like an extension of the hotel’s activities.

Either way, the 1950 Nevada census says that Las Vegas alone had 24,418 people. I saw the number 9,000 mentioned before, but that was from 1940.
