Re: NFL-PCFL Simulation

1996 NFL Season

Eastern Conference
In the Atlantic Division, the division had two teams competing for the division title, the Bay State Patriots, and the second year Baltimore Bombers. The two would split their regular season series, with the Patriots finishing at 11-5. One game behind them were the 10-6 Bombers, who though posting a winning record, missed the playoffs. In third, there were the 8-8 Washington Redskins, in fourth there were the 6-10 Miami Dolphins, and in last place, the 5-10-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of the two ties of the year were against the horrid New York Giants, with the score at 13-13, in Tampa Bay. With their first place finish, the Bay State Patriots earned the right to host the 1996 Eastern Conference Playoff.

In the North Division, three out of the four teams would post a winning record. In first and second, the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns both finished with a 12-4 record (in that order). With the end of the season, the Eagles won the right to host the 1996 Eastern Conference Final, while the Cleveland Browns would travel to Foxboro to play the Patriots for the right to play for an NFL Title. In third place, were the 10-6 Pittsburgh Steelers, who though missing the playoffs, had a respectable season, though they would not be able to defend their NFL Title. In last place in the North, were the New York Giants, who finished at a franchise worst 0-15-1. As the worst team in the league, the Giants earned the right to the first draft pick in the first round of the NFL draft.

In the 1996 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Cleveland Browns traveled to Foxboro to play the Bay State Patriots. During the regular season, the two had met under the lights in Cleveland, where there was a real barn burner between them. Going into the fourth quarter, the Browns kicked a field goal to go ahead 30-27, the final score. In the rematch, the venue was switched and the stakes were much higher. Though initially the Browns were in the running (with a 14-14 tie in the first half), the Patriots continued to score, and the defense stopped all Browns scoring. With the end of the game, the Patriots had won, 33-14.

In the 1996 Eastern Conference Final, the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Bay State Patriots. In the regular season, the two had met in Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium, where the Patriots went a head 10-0 by the fourth quarter. In the same quarter, the Eagles fought back to make the score, 10-10. In the final seconds, the Patriots kicked a field goal, to give them the win 13-10. As such, many were hoping for a tight rematch. They would not receive the game they desired. At the end of the first half, the score was 7-6, though the second half would see more scoring, the only team to score were the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished the game, 21-6, earning the Eagles the right to travel to Green Bay to play the Packers in the NFL Title.

Western Conference
In the Central Division, the Green Bay Packers were far and away the best team in not only the division, but the conference and league as well. They would finish the season at 15-1, only losing to the second place Indianapolis Colts, who at 8-7-1 finished in second, after a tie with the Chicago Bears, that ended 18-18. In the rematch, the Colts won 20-17, winning second place in the division, and just barely missing the playoffs. In third place, the Chicago Bears also finished 8-7-1, and also just out of the playoff race. In fourth place, the Minnesota Vikings (also in the playoff race) posted a 8-8 record, while in last place, the Detroit Lions went 5-11.

In the South Division, the race for first was a tight one. In first, were the Houston Oilers, who had won the Western Conference the previous season, and posted a 9-7 record, ahead of the second place New Orleans Saints, who also finished at 9-7, winning the right to travel to Houston for the Western Conference Final. In third place, the Dallas Texans (who had won the division title the previous year) finished at 6-10, while in last place the Atlanta Falcons posted a 5-11 record. With the end of the season, the Oilers and the Saints both prepared for the 1996 Western Conference Playoff.

In the 1996 Western Conference Playoff, the Houston Oilers hosted the New Orleans Saints. The Oilers, who had dominated the South since 1988, were set to play the Saints, who far removed from their success in the late 1980's. In the regular season, the Oilers had beaten the Saints twice (27-15 & 23-3) and were expected to once again contest for an NFL Title. Instead, the Saints would upset the Oilers, 20-10, earning the Saints the right to travel to Green Bay, to take on the Packers.

In the 1996 Western Conference Final, the Green Bay Packers hosted the New Orleans Saints. In the regular season, the two had met in New Orleans at the Superdome. The game was a close one, though the Packers would pull ahead, scoring a late touchdown to make the score, 24-17. As such, many expected a good game, and some were even picking the Saints for an upset. It would not be close at all, with the Packers dominating, 22-3.

1996 NFL Title
In the 1996 NFL Title, the 15-1 Green Bay Packers hosted the 12-4 Philadelphia Eagles. The two did not play in the regular season, so some assumed the Packers would dominate the Eagles, but this was not so. The Eagles scored early on, bringing the score to 14-0 at the end of the half. The Packers, though able to drive down the field, couldn't score, and in the end, the Philadelphia won their fourth title since 1960, 16-0, ending the game with a last second safety.

1996 PCFL Season
In first place, the San Francisco 49ers ran away with the league, finishing at 12-0, not losing a single regular season game. This would be Steve Young's second perfect (regular) season, and yet another year where the 49ers would make the Pacific Bowl. In second, were the Denver Broncos, who led by the star quarterback John Elway, posted a 9-3 record, and won the right to host the PCFL Playoff. In third place, were the Saint Louis Rams, who made the playoff for the second straight year, and their second in Saint Louis, at 7-5. In fourth the San Diego Chargers just finished out of the playoff, with a 6-6 record. In fifth and sixth, the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders both finished at 3-9. And in last place, the Arizona Cardinals posted a 2-10 record.

In the 1996 PCFL Playoff, the Saint Louis Rams travelled to Denver, to once again contest for a Pacific Bowl. A rematch of the previous playoff, the Rams scored early to bring the score to 7-0. A chip shot field goal at the end of the first half, made the score, 10-7. In the second half, aside from a field goal by the Rams, the Broncos absolutely steamrolled the Rams, finishing the game, 34-10, in Denver's favor. In the 1996 Pacific Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Denver Broncos. In the regular season, the 49ers (obviously) won both games ( 30-10 & 13-9) but faced a stiffer challenge in the title. With the game on the line, the 49ers were winning 17-13, when John Elway got the ball on his own twenty. His drive down the field (one of the many "drives" of his career) ended with a touchdown, and gave Elway (and the Broncos) his third league title.

Re: NFL-PCFL Simulation

1997 NFL Season

Eastern Conference
In the Atlantic Division in 1997, two teams battled for first place, the Bay State Patriots and the Washington Redskins. Neck and neck going into week 6, the Bay State Patriots humiliated the Redskins, 48-13, with Drew Bledsoe passing for six touchdowns, and began to pass the Redskins, finishing in first at 13-3, while the Washington Redskins finished in second, with an 11-5 record. Both teams would qualify for the playoffs, with the Patriots hosting the Eastern Conference Final, and the Redskins would travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles. In third, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posted a 7-9 record, (their best record so far), ahead of the 6-10 Miami Dolphins. In last, the Baltimore Bombers regressed to 5-11, after a 10-6 record the previous season.

In the North Division, there was at least the appearance of a playoff race. In first, the Philadelphia Eagles, defending NFL champions, went 10-6, and won the division title. In second and third, were the 8-8 Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. The Giants, who won eight more games this season than the last, were deemed a success by the fanbase, who had seen the worst team in NFL history the previous season. One game behind the two, were the fourth place Cleveland Browns, who at 7-9 were in last. With their divisional title, the Eagles would host the Eastern Conference Playoff.

In the 1997 Eastern Conference Final, the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Washington Redskins. In the regular season, the two met in week 3 in Philadelphia. The Eagles won the game, a close affair, 17-14, and helped secure the Eagles playoff season. As such, with the Eagles looking to return to the NFL Title, the game loomed larger than life. In Philadelphia, the fans flocked to Veterans Stadium on a cold winter day, to see what they saw as an inevitable victory, but the Redskins came to play. Though it was close, the Redskins would pull away with a late touchdown, to win the game, 24-19. With the victory, the Redskins would travel to Foxboro to play the Bay State Patriots, for the Eastern Conference title.

In the 1997 Eastern Conference Final, the Bay State Patriots hosted the Washington Redskins. The game began with a steady descent of snow flurries as the national anthem played throughout the stadium. At the start it was close. Going into the second quarter, the score was 14-7, with Washington in the lead. Going into half time, the score was now 20-17. With the start of the second half, the Patriots under Drew Bledsoe led a long drive that ended with the score of 27-17. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots extended the score to 30-17, and ended the game as Eastern Conference champions. Though they had the best record in the conference, they did not in the league, and as such would travel to Detroit to play the Lions for an NFL Title.

Western Conference
Two of the best teams in the league in 1997 were from the Central Division. With Brett Favre at the helm, many saw the Green Bay Packers as the favorites to win the division, and while they finished 13-3, they would not clinch the playoff title, which went to the Detroit Lions. While the Lions did not have a superstar quarterback (they had the perfectly serviceable Scott Mitchell), or any great receivers of note, it had one of the greatest to ever play the running back position, Barry Sanders. All season he embarrassed defenses and racked up ridiculous numbers. All year the Lions lost to only two teams, (the 7-9 Saints beat them 30-28, while the Packers beat them in Detroit 30-27) and with their 14-2 record, won the Central Division, making the Packers the third seed going into the postseason. The rest of the Central was child's play with the Colts and Vikings going 4-12, and the Chicago Bears only going 3-13.

Following the 1990 NFL Title, the ownership of the Houston Oilers began campaigning for a new stadium, to be built somewhere in the Houston area. This proposal was met with mixed reactions. Some argued that the Astrodome was a fine stadium, while others said it should be renovated. By 1993, shortly after the Oilers won their third title in four seasons, the ownership began to make overtures to several cities (Jacksonville was the most reported), and shortly after the 1996 season, the Oilers relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, on a temporary basis, until the new stadium was built in Nashville. Though there would come a rebrand, for the nonce, the team would play as the Tennessee Oilers for at least the 1997 season. In the South Division, the Dallas Texans, who had not made a title appearance since 1971, dominated the division finishing 12-4. In second and third, the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Oilers both went 7-9. In last place, were the Atlanta Falcons, who posted a 5-11 record.

In the 1997 Western Conference Playoff, the Dallas Texans hosted the Green Bay Packers. In the regular season, the Packers beat the Texans in Green Bay, 24-19. The game, though close in the end, was a blow out early. The score was 21-0 going into the fourth quarter, and the Packers stormed back to make a game of it. In the rematch, the battle between Brett Favre and Elvis Grbac was highlighted, with a 17-14 lead for Dallas going into half time. In the remaining part of the game, the Texans scored another touchdown and a last second touchdown to make the score, 27-14. With the home victory, the Dallas Texans were back in the Western Conference Final.

In the 1997 Western Conference Final, the Detroit Lions hosted the Dallas Texans. With Barry Sanders leading the charge the Lions jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the first half. With the rest of the game, the Dallas Texans were foiled in several attempts to score a touchdown, and only scored two field goals in the second half. The Lions were similarly stalled on offense, with the Lions only scoring an additional two field goals, leaving the final score 26-16. With the victory, the Lions won the right to host an NFL Title in the Pontiac Silverdome, for a bout with the Bay State Patriots.

1997 NFL Title
In the 1997 NFL Title, the Detroit Lions hosted the Bay State Patriots. When it came to offenses, the Patriots were highly lauded, while the Lions offense was entirely up to Barry Sanders. The two did not play in the regular season, and so some thought it would be a good game. It was not. In entire game, the Lions score three touchdowns, all of which came on the ground, with Barry Sanders getting two, and Tommy Vardell a single touchdown. On the other hand, the Patriots scored six touchdowns, four through the air, and two rushing, blowing the Lions out of the water at home. In the end, the score, was 45-24, and the Bay State Patriots, for the first time in NFL history, were NFL champions.

1997 PCFL Season
In the 1997 season, the San Francisco 49ers once again dominated, returning to first place and the Pacific Bowl with a 11-1 record. Behind them in second, were the San Diego Chargers, who at 9-3, won the right to host the 1997 PCFL Playoff. In third place, the Saint Louis Rams, yet again, returned to playoff form, posting a 7-5 record. Just behind them, were the fourth and fifth place Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, who were both 6-6. In sixth place, the Oakland Raiders, who had been unsuccessful since their return to Oakland (the opposite in many ways of their former market mate, Rams), went 2-10, one game ahead of the 1-11 Arizona Cardinals.

In the 1997 PCFL Playoff, the San Diego Chargers hosted the Saint Louis Rams. The two previous years, the Rams had lost the PCFL Playoff, but were determined to make their first title in Saint Louis. It was close throughout, but late in the game, the Rams scored a field goal to leave the game at a 24-24 tie. With 44 second left on the clock, the Rams went into the end zone with a deep pass, and won the game, 31-24. In the 1997 Pacific Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Saint Louis Rams. In week two of the regular season, the 49ers won 24-20 in San Francisco, while in week 13, the 49ers won 18-13. In the title, the 49ers won easily, not allowing the Rams to score a touchdown. In the end the score was 27-6, and the San Francisco 49ers, yet again, were Pacific Bowl champions, and the stadium was rocking so loudly some thought an earthquake had occurred.

Re: NFL-PCFL Simulation

1998 NFL Season

Eastern Conference
In the 1998 Atlantic Division, the defending champion Bay State Patriots stormed back to first place, finishing at 13-3, and making clear their intent to win another title. In second, were the 10-6 Miami Dolphins. Where as the Patriots had Drew Bledsoe, the Dolphins had Dan Marino, and both had stellar seasons. The Dolphins, with their ten win season, won the right to travel to Cleveland for the Eastern Conference Playoff. In third place, were the 9-7 Washington Redskins, who competed with the Dolphins for the the third seed early on. In the last two spots, were the fourth place Baltimore Bombers and the fifth place Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both had bad seasons with the Bombers finishing 6-10 and the Buccaneers posting a 5-11 record. With the end of the regular season, the Patriots won the right to host the Eastern Conference Final, while the Dolphins would travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns.

In the North Division, only one team shined the whole season, with the rest trailing behind. That team was the Cleveland Browns, who finished 10-6. In second were the 7-9 Pittsburgh Steelers, who were miraculously still in the playoff race late in the season. In third the Philadelphia Eagles posted a 6-10 record, one game ahead of the 5-11 New York Giants. Though the Browns would win the division title, many doubted their talent level, knowing how poor a division they had played in. Never the less, the Cleveland Browns were set to host the Miami Dolphins in Cleveland Stadium, in what would be the last football game played in the stadium, as the Browns would relocate in 1999 to a new stadium.

In the 1998 Eastern Conference Playoff, the Cleveland Browns hosted the Miami Dolphins. In the regular season, the Miami Dolphins had outplayed the Browns, and had won in Cleveland, by a 27-7 score. Even so, the Browns faithful were excited at the possibility, and went in looking to score early on. They would not. All game, only one touchdown was scored, a fourth quarter 13 yard pass by the Dolphins, which made the score 13-0, the games eventual end score. While they did not know it, this would be the last playoff appearance by the Browns to date (as of 2020). With the victory the Miami Dolphins won the right to travel to Foxboro to play the Bay State Patriots.

In the 1998 Eastern Conference Final, the Bay State Patriots hosted the Miami Dolphins. In the regular season, the Patriots had swept the Miami Dolphins, ( once by 23-10 and 20-13) and were heavy favorites to win the NFL Title. In this game, several touchdowns were scored, but not as many as some had hoped for. At the half, the score was a 14-14 tie. About half way through the third quarter, the Patriots kicked a field goal to make the score 17-14, in favor of the Patriots. Going into the end of the game, Dan Marino and the Dolphins got the ball. On one of the last plays of the game, Dan Marino made a fourth down conversion to get the ball to the 50 yard line, where he would lob a touchdown pass into the end zone. This score, made the final score 21-17, with the Miami Dolphins bound for the NFL Title.

Western Conference
In the 1998 Central Division season, the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings flexed their muscles as they dominated their opponents. By seasons end, only one game separated two, with Green Bay finishing 13-3, and the Vikings posting a 12-4 record. As such, both won the right to enter the playoffs, with the Packers hosting the Western Conference Final, and the Vikings traveling to Atlanta for the Western Conference Playoff. In third, were the 7-9 Chicago Bears, and in fourth were the 3-13 Detroit Lions. In last were the 2-14 Indianapolis Colts, who were led by the rookie quarterback Peyton Manning, a talented player by all accounts.

In the 1998 South Division, the Atlanta Falcons and the Dallas Texans battled all season for the right to first place. In first, the Falcons finished 12-4, while the Texans would finish with an 11-5 record. Though impressive, the season would end for the Texans, who would miss the playoffs. In third, the New Orleans Saints finished at 7-9, while in last were the 5-11 Tennessee Oilers, in their last season as the Oilers. ( 1999 would see the birth of the Tennessee Titans.) With their division title, the Falcons won the right to host the Minnesota Vikings in the Western Conference Playoff.

In the 1998 Western Conference Playoff, the Atlanta Falcons hosted the Minnesota Vikings. Old rivals, the two had played in the regular season, with the Vikings destroying the Falcons 40-17. As such they were favorites to beat the Falcons. However, the fans would be shown a better game than the one held in Minnesota. All game the two teams exchanged scores, with the game seeing scores all around. In the end, the Vikings beat the home town Falcons, 30-27, giving the Vikings the right to travel to Green Bay for the Western Conference Final.

In the 1998 Western Conference Final, the Green Bay Packers hosted the Minnesota Vikings. During the regular season, the two split their series, and as such prepared to face off a third time. The game was exceedingly close, with the Vikings in an early lead, 14-7 in favor of the Packers. No more touchdowns would be found, as the Vikings kicked three field goals, to make the score 16-14, which lead to the Minnesota Vikings winning the Western Conference Final, and winning the right to host the NFL Title.

1998 NFL Title
In the 1998 NFL Title, the Minnesota Vikings hosted the Miami Dolphins. This was the first occasion where both teams in the NFL Title, were both wild card teams. During the regular season, the Vikings handily defeated the Dolphins, 34-16, leaving many with the Vikings as favorites. Being held in the Metrodome, the Vikings got off to a good start, taking a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, the Vikings would not score again. At games end, the score was 30-10, in favor of the Miami Dolphins.

1998 PCFL Season
In the 1998 season, the San Diego Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers both finished 9-3, in first and second place respectively. As such, the 49ers had the potential to make their fifteenth straight Pacific Bowl, while the Chargers were looking for yet another title. In third, the Denver Broncos finished 7-5 and won the third seed, traveling to Candlestick Park for the 1998 PCFL Playoff. In fourth, Saint Louis Rams, at 6-6, failed to make the postseason for the first time since the team relocated to Saint Louis. In fifth the Arizona Cardinals finished 5-7, one game ahead of the sixth place Seattle Seahawks, who were 4-8. And in last, the Oakland Raiders finished 2-10.

In the 1998 PCFL Playoff, the San Francisco 49ers took on the Denver Broncos. It was of importance that both teams legendary quarterbacks were in their last season, John Elway in Denver, and Steve Young in San Francisco. While the game came to the end of the wire, the Broncos would fall before the mighty 49ers, ensuring another Pacific Bowl between the 49ers and Chargers. The score was 28-26. In the 1998 Pacific Bowl, the 49ers stormed out the gate with a quick touchdown, but would be stopped in their tracks by the San Diego Chargers, who won the game 27-10.

Re: NFL-PCFL Simulation

1999 NFL Season

Eastern Conference
In 1999, the Atlantic Division saw one of the best divisions in league history (at least since divisions anyway). In first, the Bay State Patriots continued their regular season dominance, finishing at 13-3 and earning the right to host the Eastern Conference Final. In second, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in their fifth season in the NFL, posted a 11-5 record and clinging their first playoff appearance. Just behind them were the Washington Redskins, who at 11-5 just barely missed the playoffs. Behind them were the 10-6 defending champion Miami Dolphins, and in last were the Baltimore Bombers, who at 9-7 were the worst in best division in football. With the end of the regular season, two of three teams in the Eastern Conference postseason were from the Atlantic, and every team had hope for the future.

Whereas the Atlantic Division was outstanding in its teams performance, the North Division was the opposite. Though the division race was close, none of the four teams would post a winning record. Leading the pack were the 7-9 New York Giants, who were led by quarterback Kerry Collins, who had lost the starting job in Baltimore after uttering racial slurs in a mostly black city. Though not fantastic, he was suitable and won the right to host the 1999 Eastern Conference Playoff. In second, were the 6-10 Pittsburgh Steelers, and behind them were the 4-12 Philadelphia Eagles. In last were the Cleveland Browns, who had handicapped themselves before the season by making numerous trades to draft Tim Couch. While they had been humiliated in the 1998 Eastern Conference Playoff by the Miami Dolphins, they would face much worse in 1999, going 1-15. The sole game they won, were against the Philadelphia Eagles in the last home game of the season, winning 26-24. With the end of the regular season, the New York Giants would go on to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Eastern Conference Playoff.

In the 1999 Eastern Conference Playoff, the New York Giants hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the regular season, the underdog Giants wiped the floor with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning 20-3 in Tampa Bay. As such, some predicted a close game, though most did not. Even with that evidence, most saw the game as an easy win for the Buccaneers. While they would play well, it was all for not, as the hometown Giants won, 19-13, earning the right to travel to Foxboro, to contest for the Eastern Conference Final, with the Bay State Patriots

In the 1999 Eastern Conference Final, the Bay State Patriots hosted the New York Giants. In the regular season, the Patriots hosted the Giants, in a close, but low scoring affair, that saw the Patriots finish ahead, 17-14. In the Final itself, the Giants were at a loss all game. They would score no points, though they had several chances throughout the game. Drew Bledsoe had a stellar appearance, throwing for two touchdowns, and setting up a field goal. At the end, the score was 17-0, and the Bay State Patriots returned to the NFL Title, also earning the right to host, following the outcome of the Western Conference Final.

Western Conference
In the 1999 Central Division season, there was a three way race for the division title. In first, were the 12-4 Indianapolis Colts, led by second year quarterback Peyton Manning. Even with his stellar performance, they were only one game ahead of the 11-5 Detroit Lions, who also won the right to a playoff appearance. In third, were the 10-6 Green Bay Packers, who just barely missed the playoffs, and in fourth were the 8-8 Chicago Bears. And in last, were the 6-10 Minnesota Vikings.

In the South Division, there was a two way race for the division title. Coming down to the final week of play, the Dallas Texans finished 10-6 ahead of the 9-7 Tennessee Titans. In third and fourth were the 4-12 New Orleans Saints and the 3-13 Atlanta Falcons, who were both defeated badly and often. With the division title, the Texans won the right to host the 1999 Western Conference Playoff, where they would go up against the Detroit Lions.

In the 1999 Western Conference Playoff, the Dallas Texans hosted the Detroit Lions. In the regular season, the two had played in Detroit, where the Texans beat the Lions, 16-11, in a game that was never very interesting. The rematch would have the same effect on its audience. While Dallas quarterback, Elvis Grbac, threw for a touchdown in the third quarter, it would be the only offensive touchdown of the game, with the second occurring on a pick six by Dallas. The Texans would win the game, 14-6, earning the right to travel to Indianapolis's RCA Dome to play the Indianapolis Colts.

In the 1999 Western Conference Final, the Indianapolis Colts hosted the Dallas Texans. In the regular season, the Colts visited Dallas and won a close game, finding ahead, 31-23. In the rematch, the two teams would be evenly matched. Both Grbac and Manning would score a pair of touchdowns, while the kickers also both got on the board. With two minutes left in the game, the score was 17-17, and the Colts had the ball. Unfortunately for Indianapolis football fans, Manning would throw an interception that set up the game winning field goal, that left the final score, 20-17.

1999 NFL Title
In the 1999 NFL Title, the Bay State Patriots hosted the Dallas Texans. In the regular season, the two met on windy day in Foxboro, where the Patriots absolutely dominated Dallas, finishing the game, 20-3. Though some Patriots fans were hoping for a similar outcome, it would not be so. By half time the score was Dallas 20, Bay State 7. Drew Bledsoe was sacked six times, and the Patriots seemed incapable of scoring against the smothering Dallas defense. Grbac thew all over the field with success, while Drew Bledsoe seemed broken. In the end, the Dallas Texans dominated, winning the 1999 NFL Title, 37-7. With the win, the franchises 8th, the Texans had their first title since 1969.

1999 PCFL Season
In the 1999 PCFL season, the Saint Louis Rams, wiped the floor with the competition, finishing at 11-1. Their one loss was a week five game against the Denver Broncos, who won the game 23-17. With their regular season success, they won the right to host the Pacific Bowl. In second, were the San Diego Chargers, defending Pacific Bowl champions. At 7-5, they tied with the third and fourth place, Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos, who finished in that order due to tiebreakers. In fifth place, the Seattle Seahawks posted. 5-7 record, one game ahead of the 4-8 San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers, who had appeared in every Pacific Bowl from 1984 to 1998, were at last finally done. In last place, the Arizona Cardinals finished 1-11, winning their only game during week 9 in San Diego, which they won 24-21.

In the 1999 PCFL Playoff, the San Diego Chargers hosted the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were making their first postseason appearance since returning to Oakland in 1995, while the Chargers were competing for another title season. In the game, neither side really took much of a lead, with the game ending in a 19-17 San Diego victory. With the win, the San Diego Chargers traveled to Saint Louis to play the Rams. In the 1999 Pacific Bowl, the Saint Louis Rams hosted the San Diego Chargers. In the regular season, the Rams swept the Chargers, winning both games (32-14 and 22-10). In the third game, the result would be similar, with the Rams winning, 31-16. With the victory, the Rams had won their first in Saint Louis, and the fifth Pacific Bowl title for the city of Saint Louis. (The previous seasons being 1962, 1964, 1966 & 1974)
