Re: The Story of Driveball

1952-53 Offseason

After years of apathetic support in Montreal, the Voyaguers were sold to beverage tycoon Wolfgang Herzog, who immediately moved the franchise to his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The team's name was anglicized from Voyageurs to Voyagers, in honor of Father Marquette and Louis Joliet. The new orange and black color scheme comes courtesy of Harley-Davidson, the team's main corporate sponsor.

The Voyagers will swap divisions with the Blacksmiths and share County Stadium with the MLB Braves. Games home and away will be televised on WTMJ-TV.

And now an updated league poster:

And an updated league alignment:

Eastern Division
Boston Unicorns
New Jersey Bulldogs
New York Heroes
Philadelphia Spirits
Pittsburgh Blacksmiths
Toronto Titans

Western Division
Buffalo Lakers
Chicago Gaels
Cleveland Mad Hatters
Detroit Roadsters
Indianapolis Drivers
Milwaukee Voyagers

The last domino to fall will pretty much be Toronto as far as the DANA goes.

Re: The Story of Driveball

Will we see Newark relocate?

Re: The Story of Driveball

Betting that Toronto will be saved from Being Relocated which will probably lead to Montreal joining a new Rival Driveball League with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Houston so we can see a league of 12 Teams Competing.

Re: The Story of Driveball

1952-53 Off-season

The unnamed rival league took the first steps in formally announcing at least some of the cities that will be represented when the league takes the field for 1954.

Even though the New York market is served by the Heroes at the Polo Grounds and, to some extent, the New Jersey Bulldogs at Roosevelt Field in Jersey City, the rival league knew they needed a New York presence to woo CBS, NBC or ABC to televise their games.

With the DANA reluctant to bring their brand of Driveball to the west coast, the rival league is aggressively emphasizing California as its key to success.

Ten teams will form the new league, but it'll take time for the cities to be finalized.

Colonial Division
New York (Yankee Stadium) *Confirmed*

Frontier Division
Los Angeles (Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum) *Confirmed*
San Francisco (Kezar Stadium) *Confirmed*

Cities bidding for teams...
Montreal, Quebec
Cincinnati, Ohio
Denver, Colorado
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Vancouver, British Columbia
Seattle, Washington
Miami, Florida
Washington, DC
Baltimore, Maryland
St. Louis, Missouri
Kansas City, Missouri
Dallas, Texas
Houston, Texas
Calgary, Alberta
Edmonton, Alberta
Winnipeg, Manitoba

Re: The Story of Driveball

Here are same name suggestions
New York- Towers (lots of skyscrapers there)
Los Angeles- Suns (It’s sunny there last time I checked)
San Francisco- Gold (Tying into the gold rush and the Golden Gate Bridge)
