Re: The AltBA Season 2023

I don't have a fancy graphic but I do want to note that the Flyers did win last week. We are no longer winless. Go Flyers.

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

This week went about as well as I could've hoped. We won (big) over the Boston Schooners, and the Marshals took a loss. We're now only one game back on them, and looking to nab some big wins down the stretch to win the West. The next step to winning the west is in Charlotte, as we head into Flyer country to attempt to get win number 11. We certainly aren't looking past them, and our featured player, Donovan Mitchell, looks to keep up his scoring output. We'll be in the alternate 57 Facet jerseys for the final time this season in this one. #ACutAboveTheRest

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

So far, no Embiid has been no problem for the Invaders. Albuquerque rolled to a win this past week over the floundering Minnesota Giants to stick with the Emeralds and move just one game behind the Marshals in the West. We now face a much tougher challenge as we welcome Baltimore to the Saucer. Both teams will have something to battle for, as both teams sit at second place in their respective conference, and both are just one game out of first, so you should expect a gritty matchup in this one. With a new big man rotation, F/C Precious Achiuwa has seen quite a bit more playing time, and has taken full advantage, with 45 points and 27 rebounds against the Giants.

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

Ouch. That was an ugly one. The Lancers were able to take advantage of the weakened Invaders lineup and completely dominated us in every facet of the game, leading to perhaps our worst loss of the modern era. We're still a pretty safe bet to make the playoffs with only three weeks left in the regular season, but those might be some ugly weeks if we can't turn things around, especially considering our opponents in those games. Our first one is Boston, who will be looking for revenge after a close loss against Kansas City, so we have our work cut out for us. If there was anything good to be taken from this game, it would probably be the play of F/C Paul Reed, who was added to our roster after Joel Embiid went on IR the most recent time. Reed finished with a respectable 54 points, but shined on defense, where he accumulated 45 rebounds and 8 blocks.

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

Hey, we're into second in the West now! We still would face Albuquerque in the first round of the playoffs, but that's future Seattle's problem. Our current problem is Los Angeles. So we'll beat them this week. We'll be in the Evergreen set and highlighting D'Angelo Russell! #ACutAboveTheRest

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

Wow, what a game. The Invaders were able to battle back from an early deficit to pull ahead at the very end to score a big win against Boston. We've now moved back into a tie for second place in the West, alongside Seattle. Oh, also, we're playing against Seattle this week, in a game that will likely clinch home court advantage in the likely playoff matchup between us. For our game against the Emeralds, we're coincidentally highlighting a former Emerald, as G Keyonte George was waived by Seattle earlier this year. Since coming to Albuquerque, he's been a solid part of the rotation, and went for 64 points with 19 assists against the Schooners last week.

For our game against the Invaders, we're highlighting G/F DeMar DeRozan. He's having a good first year in Seattle, and went for 72 points with 18 assists and 17 rebounds against the Olympians last week.

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

We're so back. After a terrible loss against Baltimore and an absolute squeaker of a win over Boston, the Invaders looked like the dominant team that we've been for most of the season - the big difference of course being that we're doing all this with Joel Embiid still working his way back from injury. With a hugely important win over the Emeralds, we have earned ourselves the regular-season sweep over Seattle, and also the right to host them in the postseason, as the Marshals' comeback against the Olympians has locked in the West seeding. Before we see a rematch of both of those games, we've got a date with those very same Olympians as both teams look for one final tune-up before the playoffs begin. Featured this week is G/F Ayo Dosunmu, who came up big with 55 points and 24 assists against the Ems.

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

Well, that happened. We lost, the Olympians lost, the Marshals won, and we know exactly what the west matchups will be. So now we play out the regular season with likely our last home game of the year, as we welcome in our rivals to the north, the Caribou. We're going to be in the standard home Stratus set, and are highlighting our top scoring player on the season and last week, DeMar DeRozan! #ACutAboveTheRest

Re: The AltBA Season 2023

That's a pretty good way to finish off the regular season. The Invaders beat the Olympians and accrued the highest score of any team on the week. All that is completely behind us now, however, as we welcome the Seattle Emeralds to Albuquerque for our second matchup in three weeks. Also, for the second time in three weeks, we're featuring a player with the last name George against the Ems, as F Paul George was our leading scorer on the regular season. He'll look to lead the Invaders to their third consecutive first-round victory against a tough Seattle team.
